Came here for dinner because Sugidama Soba & Izakaya was closed and let me tell you, it is very mediocre. The sushi came out so fast after we ordered that it couldn’t have been made fresh, and it was kind of lukewarm. The shrimp tempura had a very weird flavor and the rice was kind of lumpy and hard. It was good enough overall but not for the prices they charge. Would never come back here or recommend it.

A peaceful oasis amidst the bustle of David Sq. The service was very good and attentive. Food came out soon. We ordered Miso Soup, Organic Salad and a few rolls. I loved the dressing on the Salad and the greens were good. Not too much dressing, which I appreciated. The maki rolls were also very good. Fresh and interesting. My only complaint was the soup was a bit watery. But given how good the food was this may have been a once off. We will be back.

Clean restaurant & good service. Food are not bad but also not so impressive. I ordered the seafood deluxe & grilled seafood mixed with mushrooms and mayonnaise, they were almost the same thing which I wish the server would have told me. Overall an average Japanese Sushi restaurant.

Solid sushi for a solid price. Dining in is the recommended experience here! The staff are all extremely friendly and provide a great experience. They have some unique rolls here so it’s always fun to try something new !

Genki Ya is the best restaurant in Davis Square! Very healthy and affordable food. I lived near Little Tokyo in Los Angeles for decades and was elected to the local neighborhood council in the district. I haven’t had Japanese food that’s this good since I left Los Angeles. I especially love the broccoli (the sauce is very unique) and the salmon (perfectly cooked – crispy outside and tender inside). Quiet and relaxing environment with Hawaiian style music playing all the time. Extremely kind, compassionate and friendly owner and staff. The broccoli salad is amazing and after I eat the sashi-mi my brain almost always works better. Elaine (I-Ling), Paul, and everyone else at Genki Ya always treat me like a friend and a neighbor– not just like a customer passing through. Genki Ya is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood—and I plan to keep coming here whenever I am in the area!

My favorite sushi spot in David square. Sushi is super fresh the owner and waitstaff are super friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this place to all of my friends before they go out in the area. The sake is also great and if you aren’t sure where to start you can always ask! 5/5 stars

Ordered something small and was told to wait for 15min. We decided to walk around instead of waiting there (we never said it’s for takeout though). When we came back, we wanted to sit at the table outside but they already packed our food and said that was for dine-in only. The restaurant was pretty empty that time, but we ended up finding somewhere else to eat. Rolls were somewhat generic compared to normal sushi buffet.
