Jackalope beer pretty good. The pizza and the meatballs were good. Not sure how I feel about the tobacco store wooden Indian being modified to salute but hey, I guess each to there own.

Ordered a Margherita pizza. Used pre-sliced cured mozzarella, sauce looked like/tasted of premade tomato paste and the crust was overloaded with cornmeal.
Apparently it is brick-oven pizza but had no flavoring or any other obvious indications that it was cooked in one.
Another review had said that the food was glorified cafeteria food but I think that is generous.
Would not recommend.

Food is glorified cafeteria food, if you like pizza don’t come here. Service was okay, we had a simple order of cheese bread and a pepperoni pizza with ranch and we had to remind the waiter of the ranch. Sodas come in bottles instead of cups. Atmosphere is cute, though they could use music as it was only us and dead silent.
Pluses are prices aren’t bad for the food, just need to work on not using so much cheese (and it needs to be better quality) and sauce, and the dough recipe needs fixed.

My wife and I had a family member in town so we dropped in to Gene’s Place for the first time this past weekend. We were so glad we found Gene’s. We started with Meatball Bomber appetizer, followed by the Supreme Pizza and side salads. Everything was really good especially the pizza, with crust just like we like it, kind of thin with a slight crunch.
James, the server recommended The Lager Projekt beer from Tailgate that went perfectly with the meal.
James was super friendly and helpful. This is a really nice, family friendly place and we will certainly be back.

Not gonna lie, we were hungry, trying to figure out what to eat. As we drove by Gene’s Place Pizzeria we saw “USMC” in the window. We had to stop! As we walked in we notice Marine memorabilia everywhere from photos to the “blood stripe” wall. (Dont worry, its not a real blood stripe.) Great atmosphere!!! We were seated quickly with CHESTY PULLER looking over us. We ordered and had our meatball appetizer in no time. Margherita pizza hit the spot. Once done the man behind the bar walks up to see how our meal was. Turns out, he was a US Marine & the owner. Great chat with him reminiscing about The Corps!! We did find out where we may be on Nov 10th this year!!!

The absolute best place in Cookeville for pizza, sandwiches, appetizers and soups! You will not find a fresher salad anywhere either! The mixed drinks are phenomenal and the selections of beers are incredible! The owners are so awesome to chat with and don’t forget to try the desserts too! The atmosphere and decor is absolutely inviting for all seasons!

The quality of food and service are great. We had bbq chicken pizza, vegetarian, and margarita pizzas and all were superb. 16 draft beers, affordable, and good patrons. Gene’s rocks.

Pizza is delicious. Chili was just right, tasty & spot on heat. Next time I’ll pair it with their wonderful garlic bread. Salad is not your average salad. Very tasty with more ingredients than a typical salad. A meal in itself ! Cozy atmosphere, convenient, ample parking right across the street. Nice selection of craft & domestic beer also.

I really enjoyed my visit here. The waitress was super nice. The area was spacious. We shared the entree salad along with the BBQ chicken pizza. The pizza was amazing! You could tell it was homemade. It was reasonable portion sizes as well! Definitely coming back here. I do wish that they played some music for the background noise instead of the TV.
