Great history and really good food. The shrimp and oysters were excellent. The staff is super friendly. They have now enclosed the old outdoor seating and take credit cards (no more having to scour for an ATM, however no American Express). We come almost every year and now that there is indoor seating we will come every year. Keep up the great work!

Best Oysters I’ve ever had in my life. The atmosphere is great as well as the food. Everything was fresh and the bathrooms were spotless. My wife has celiac and she enjoyed how they have gluten free options. Will come back again!

Definitely worth a try. Be aware that this is a really old old building. Only bar stool seating at bar. They are expanding to have a dining area with tables. Just old and needs a good scrub. But this the opinion of a person who is a clean freak. Shrimp cooked just right. Grouper tasted fresh, and standout were the regular baked oysters! All was good and glad we went. Lots of old Florida atmosphere here! Server was so nice and personable. Really enjoyed talking with him.

This is the best Oyster Bar in Panama City or Panama City Beach area! 100% worth the drive into the city from the beach!

They have it all! Raw, the best quality and price! Baked, fried, sandwiches, sides! I reccomend the homemade clam chowder and any of the baked oysters if raw aren’t your thing.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is like stepping back in time. A true gem!

Bring cash or there is an ATM on site.

The staff was so amazing, they even made a special dessert just for me! ❤️

We stop by every time we are in the are and I had oysters and clam chowder here 3 times this week plus an amazing slice of apple pie!

Do not skip this stop!

Gene’s has always been my favorite oyster bar. They have expanded with the outside patio now enclosed with more seating and now accepts card and cash. But Best of all the oysters are still amazing rather you like them raw or baked. The fried mullet was also amazing and washed it all down with some of the best sweet tea I’ve had. 10/10 would recommend to everyone who likes seafood. I forgot to take a pic of my oysters and mullet, but it’s OK, cause I’ll be back for more

Very local diner style feel. Exactly what we were looking for. Good prices and great staff. Ordered the steamed shrimp, clam chowder, collar bone and fried shrimp basket. The shrimp was great! I’ve never had fried shrimp I liked, usually it’s overly breaded this was perfect. Very lightly done. His puppies were also a surprise that we loved.
Would’ve tried the frog legs if I would’ve seen the sign they had them, but didn’t catch that until after we ordered.
Cash only place so be prepared for that.
I’d skip the clam chowder though it was very thin we couldn’t even find a clam and barely any potatos, Flavor was great.

Great place to go if you are looking for fresh oysters. Had the loaded baked oysters , shrimp and grits and the raw oysters, and they were all so good.

I only wish I had known that it was cash only before I went there because I ended up not giving enough tip because the bill came out to 54 dollars and I ended up only giving around 6 dollars.

Tim waited on us and he was super nice! He told us about the history of the place and it lived up to its history of being authentic and with good prices! I loved the fried oysters! I would rate them superior! Tim even let me try a raw one. I was shocked that it tasted pretty good! Five stars for this little restaurant!

Gene’s has been in business for many years and recently changed hands in ownership. We finally had an opportunity to have lunch there today. I had the fresh mullet basket and my husband the fried oyster basket. We both ordered cheese grits and fried okra for our 2 sides. Everything was good, although our grits did not appear to have cheese in them (?). I also ordered a side of mullet roe and tried it. It was not my favorite, it was so big, but now I can say I’ve tried it. Jeffrey, our server, was very friendly, and we enjoyed our visit. We hope to visit again soon.

We just evacuated to PCB from Tampa, after a restless few days, I feel like I just left heaven. Everyone was so kind, and the oysters are FRESH! They shuck them right in front of you, and their homemade cocktail sauce was perfection. I hope to stop here again one day!
