Great place to eat and only $8! And all you can eat too! Is located right around the corner from SHSU. Public is welcome. Serve yourself. Lots of choices. We love it! I only gave the atmosphere 3 stars due to not really being an atmospheric type of place. But very comfortable none the less. Be sure to check it out!

The staff is great – all are very kind! I loved the plant-based food but to witness such extend of animal exploitation for the most of the “food” there in 2026 is crazy. Please make it all vegan, free of slavery, we are all animals and animals / individuals should never be “ingredients” we’re not stranded on somewhat weird lonely island, stop eating animals!! This Dining hall was the place to go during the fall but… it’s definitely not lived up to the expectation in the spring. Serving breakfast for dinner…c’Mon now. Desserts are okay. They usually always have ice cream so no biggie. Food wise, I’d say review the menu and definitely add a pasta bar. That’s a big reason why old main market typically has better food options.

I picked up one of the many smoothies on display for people to drink, and I drank a sip, spat it out and asked the guy why it tasted like vomit. He said, “oh those? I think those are a few days old. We just haven’t changed them out yet.” That pretty much sums up this dining hall.

This is not your father’s school cafeteria. This eating establishment serves all types of food at various food prep stations. The food is prepared right in front of you and usually very fresh. They have a nice selection of grilled food salads Pizza baked food desserts and they even have vegan options. Self-serve ice cream machine added for desserts

I actually like the food here at generals. They have at least one good thing each time you come. The staff is friendly to the students, and the fun events they put on throughout the year is very appreciated. I love the Thanksgiving meals and Mardi Gras meals they put on. At the end of the month they have birthday cake for students who had their birthday that month. Can’t forget their smoothies they have occasionally. I wish they did those more often because me and my friends would always get 3-4 they were so good

In a traditional student environment, this eat in or take out cafe is the best place to be. From the entrance to the meals, you most likely want to come again. Staff members are dutiful & ready to assist. You just get what you want and the speed of service is top notch. I want to visit again.

The food here is always good and fresh. The portions are not huge the size that a person should be eating (of course you can go for more, if you want).
The salad bar is great; however, you have to reach a long way under the sneeze guard to reach the food.
