Best food ever!
I moved to another state a few years ago and I can’t find anything that compares to General Star. I make a point to stop at least once whenever I’m in town. I legit spent the last few months looking forward to this sweet and sour chicken!

Same great food that they had at their north Main location. Good food and a great value, especially if you get the daily special

The food is excellent. It’s cooked in front of you, fresh. It’s fast and the people are friendly. I recommend this place if you what you want a fast food that is fresh and price is reasonable. The crab Rangoon is excellent. It’s not too heavy.

This is truly and utterly the WORST Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m from the East Coast, I know what to compare this too. The orange chicken is diced very small and fried so really you’re just getting a smart portion of chicken and a large portion of breading. EVERYTHING is bland and not worth the 9 dollars. Garbage! And I found a pebble in my food!!!!

I’m a truck driver so I get to visit a lot of Chinese restaurants.. The food here was phenomenal. The pork fried rice is to die for, the staff are friendly and polite and the atmosphere is calming. Will definitely be back. Thank you!!

Best Chinese cuisine I’ve found! I moved out of Mac years ago, but I still often have cravings for General Star. I live in a city with a dozen Chinese restaurants within 10 minutes of me and none of them compare. I make a point to stop by every time I’m in town!

Five stars relative to all other fast American Chinese Food places (they do not use entrails and other unmentionables like authentic Chinese food places)..

Made fast ( usually a couple minutes), fresh. Lots of variety and all the basic offerings. Imperial chicken, sesame chicken and tsos chicken are my favorites.

Very good prices.

They can adjust the level of spice on any dish, their ice tea is pretty strong the way I like it.

This is the cleanest restaurant I’ve been to in a long time, and the food was awesome. I went with a friend and she had the almond chicken which she said was great, I had the general chicken, which was on special. We were both very full when we were done.

Went here b/c of the reviews. This is your standard counter fare which can often be good. BUT Perhaps it’s b/c when I went there after the main lunch crowd and before dinner that the quality wasn’t what the other reviews allude to. I got the braised pork #9 (wasn’t given an option for fried rice or white rice) and it looked like hours or days old battered pork (like you would find in sweet and sour pork) and tasted like it. I’ve had freshly made dishes with the ubiquitous battered chicken or pork and it’s unmistakeable when it’s fresh. Perhaps the proof of this non-fresh quality is that my meal was ready in approx. 4 minutes. It appeared what they did was take the precooked battered meat out of the fridge, throw it in the fryer, then stir fry it in some spicy sauce with red peppers. The fried rice was pretty tasteless as well…and appeared to be just rice and soy sauce…nothing else in it. Again, my guess is that I got the remnants of what they wanted to get rid of. Here’s another point for you: “braised” means “fry (food) lightly and then stew it slowly in a closed container.” This wasn’t it. I also went to “Yummy Yummy Chinese Restaurant” in Lyons and it was worth the drive and super hot/fresh. IMO, this place wasn’t 4.4 stars on this visit. If you get your food in under 5 mins, consider asking for it fresh and waiting 10-15 minutes for quality.
