This place has a lot of potential. I hope they grow and improve their resturant. They are just starting and theyre family owned. The food was amazing. I have eaten in ramen shops all thru south Texas. Dragon Warrior had been the best in the RGV until they shut down. No other Ramen shop had compared until now. Genaro’s Ramen has amazing and tasty food, family friendly, and great service. They are just starting. My personal tips for them to do better is. 1 to roast the corn in their ramen. It will give it better taste. 2 paint the walls a different color. Make it a bit darker. Maybe put some ambient lights. 3 The parking needs improvment. 4. On ur take out. Separate the noodles feom the broth because then then noodles tend to become soggy. But I truely hope they grow and improve. Because their food is out of this world.

Genaro’s Ramen & Izakaya is definitely a must try! Me & my family have gone a few times and each time we go we love our food. My favorite is the gyoza & the fried chicken, my son & my husband always get the Shoyu soup or the Tonkatsu & this last time we asked for the Takoyaki and they were delicious! The food is amazing, they do not take long and the anime decor inside is super cute!

It’s a nice little restaurant with the proper interior design. The colors are very pleasant and in agreement with the available space. The restroom is cleaner than in most restaurants. The food is excellent authentic Japanese, the service was very good too . Just returned and it’s even better flavor full , perfect food temperature and presentation

This place has absolutely DELICIOUS ramen! My husband and I came from Houston to visit family and the color of the building caught our eye. The reviews don’t lie when they say the ramen is great, I’ll be honest to say that it’s some of the best ones I’ve had even from Houston. We did also get the chicken karage but it wasn’t our favorite. The chicken peices were a bit larger than the ones we are used to, and the breading was more on the flour side. We prefer panko breading, but everything was made hot, fresh and made to order! The atmosphere was great and so was the service, we will definitely visit again

Finally a ramen place in the Rio Grand! Although the parking was a bit tricky the food was so worth it! The tonkotsu ramen was so savory, the broth was rich in flavor with tender pork, and a marinated egg (my fav) and the environment was so friendly with the cutest decor along with Japanese ice cream and snacks! not to mention its affordable so its definitely worth it ☆

Not gonna lie, I’m a little biased as I went to school with Genaro. Still, I can say that my experience was positive and pleasant.
I read another review that recommended roasting the corn….I 100% agree with that. Adding a marinade to the ajitama would also slap. Both small things that would make a big impact to flavor. Oh, and frying the chili for the chili oil.
For ambience, I would ask that the tv be moved from behind the cash register to the seating area and also agree that a darker interior color would help. Lastly, I’m curious what chorizo would taste like mixed with tonkotsu broth. Maybe a good experiment ?
