The food didn’t taste good.
I like sushi, so I enjoy everything from cheap to high-end restaurants, but no matter how much sushi roll it was, I didn’t get the feeling of Japanese food. Sushi rice was also hard because it was old, and the amount of rice was large.
The sashimi was also inexpensive. I thought the sale price was high by comparison.
The sauces provided also had a strong scent of Chinese food.
If you love Japanese food, I don’t want to recommend it.
The servers greeted me kindly. I didn’t receive any particularly friendly service. There was a lot of chatter among the servers, and it was a very distracting atmosphere.
The outdoor tables were even more hectic as servers came and went. They even took water and spilled it.
If you want to eat quietly, I don’t recommend it.

Amazing experience from start to finish. This is a veteran-owned, family-run sushi spot, and you can really feel the care and pride that goes into everything they do. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.
The sushi and nigiri are beautifully crafted with very generous portions of fish and fresh ingredients. The nigiri especially stands out—thick cuts of fish, perfectly balanced rice, and incredible flavor in every bite. Nothing feels rushed or skimpy here.
You can tell this is a place that truly respects the art of sushi. Highly recommend supporting this business—you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

I went to Gen Sushi in Battle Ground with a friend and really enjoyed it! Parking was easy. When we came in the place is clean and welcoming. We were greeted right away and our table was reserved. Everything we tried was delicious sushi, warm miso soup, and mochi ice cream for dessert. Also loved our cocktails that tasted like strawberry starburst and also the fun drink that you open with a marble. Such a nostalgic touch! Our waitress Victoria was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. The whole staff is really friendly. Definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!

I’ve heard a lot about Gen Sushi but never had the time to make my way there or just forgot. Today I finally got the chance to try it and it did not disappoint. I’ve been trying sushi within the area and this is my favorite restaurant so far.
As soon as we stepped in around 4pm on a Saturday, we were greeted and seated right away. We only ordered sushi, but they have many other options for those not a fan of sushi.
Honestly, I’m use to waiting for sushi to be made when a restaurant has multiple types of food on the menu, but we got our sushi made around 5 minutes. And everything was so fresh!! Amazed by the time and super happy with the food lol
The service is great. Each person that stopped by our table were super nice and efficient.
I would say we got seated, ordered, received our food, ate and checked out under 25 minutes. My partner and I love dining in restaurants, but we also love when we can be in and out. This isn’t very common in non-conveyor belt restaurants.
The restaurant itself is Japanese themed and feels authentic. It’s a smaller restaurant but they have a covered patio to seat more guests.
Overall, I was super impressed and can see why their ratings are so high. I hope to be back soon.

Absolutely spectacular! The sushi is delicious and meticulously prepared in the Japanese traditional method. The service is amazing, often the manager/owner will circle the restaurant with Japanese amuse-bouches.

We’ve visited countless sushi restaurants in the PNW and I dont usually write reviews but I couldn’t help myself this time. First off, great cold sake selection. These guys have stellar quality fish, excellent presentation and very high skill when it comes to packing the rolls out with as much as possible. Most of the rolls/nigiri have such large chunks of fish on top that most other places would make 2-3 other rolls/nigiri with the same quantity. This is where the impressive technique really shines because all of them stayed together and were easy to eat. Hands down the biggest and tastiest unagi hand roll we’ve had yet. The owner was making rounds bringing delicious homemade hibiscus tea for guests and samples of other sushi at no charge while making small talk. Him and all the servers were very gracious from beginning to the very end when we were leaving. It was a homey and warm atmosphere overall. This will not be the cheapest sushi place you’ll ever eat at, but for both the quality and quantity paired with the service you get I think it is well worth the cost. If you’re skeptical about 4.9 stars just know these guys deserve every good review that comes their way! I should also say the menu includes many lunch/dinner non sushi options which we haven’t tried yet, but are much cheaper.

My favorite was the miso soup . It tasted like it was made with a lot of love , the ingredients were so fresh . i will come back specifically for the soup .
The sweet egg was also pretty tasty , i would get it again ! im not sure how you’re supposed to eat it , i had it with the pickled ginger and a little bit of soy sauce , SO YUMMY .

Gen Sushi is an absolute gem in Battle Ground! We had a party of 8 and every single person left impressed. The atmosphere is welcoming and stylish, and the food—especially the sashimi and nigiri—was top-tier. The calamari was perfectly cooked, and the Thai tea was a hit at our table. The owner was incredibly gracious and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality sushi experience!
