I’ve been longing to find a spot in Sussex County that feels truly homey and we finally found it. From the moment we walked in, the welcome our family received was so warm it felt like stepping into someone’s own kitchen and dining room.
Our food was a bit delayed due to a large order, but the owner who personally checks on every table, came over with freshly baked crumb cakes to thank us for waiting. That small gesture alone showed how much they value their customers. It’s the kind of genuine care that’s been lost in so many places, but here, you can tell every guest is treated like family.
And the food… you guys, the food is AMAZING. Hands down the best breakfast I’ve had in ages. And that crumb cake? Insanely, insanely delicious.

We just moved to the area and we’re looking for a new breakfast place with our little ones. This place is absolutely phenomenal. Always made to order, extremely affordable , and the atmosphere is a warm country feel.

Gemma’s Country Kitchen is a family friendly place to have breakfast or lunch. It has a homey feel with a country theme, and plenty of rooster decorations! Each meal is cooked to order so it can sometimes take a little longer to get your meals, but well worth the wait. I highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere. It was so nice to enjoy a wonderful breakfast without being assaulted by a tv or loud radio. A quiet, clean and tasty place to eat. The people were cheerful and friendly. I recommend this eatery.

Super Cute Hometown Diner. Heard good things and decided to popby and grab a sandwich for my husband. Check out the menu, great prices. Hubby loved his Chicken Hero sandwich. Met Gemma – such a nice lady. Next time I stop by I’m getting their off menu sandwich named after my High School friend “The Brett” – Pastrami, Swiss, BLT Triple Decker on Marbled Rye!

After 5+ minutes, the waitress arrived to get my order: Coffee and ice water
I asked if they had scrapple on the menu — she didn’t know what that was
Instead, I ordered corned beef hash, sunny side up eggs and home fried potatoes
About 15 minutes later I asked if I could have my coffee
At about the 55 minute point, I asked the manager/owner to come to my table
I asked her to find out what was delaying my order
She returned to tell me that the kitchen cooks the orders in sequence — first ordered is cooked first and there were orders ahead of me
By this time the place was only 1/3 occupied
She expected the order to be ready in about 15 minutes
At 12:28 my order was served
The corned beef hash was warm but not crispy
The eggs were scorched, the yolks just about hard boiled done … but the potatoes were perfect
90 minutes is far too long for a mediocre simple breakfast
