Update on second visit: Patience was the bartender and was truly amazing to talk with. She made my friend a lovely amaretto sour. I got to meet Chef Stephanie this time and it was so neat to talk with her about her background as a chef. My friend loved the chocolate cake.

1st visit: Christina and Celeste provided excellent service. The food was delicious. Forgive me for the photo of the gumbo missing one shrimp already as my friend couldn’t wait to start eating it. He said it was incredible. The crab étouffée was delightful and had so much fresh crab. The rice was perfect as well and the biscuit and cornbread were lovely. The butter was scrumptious. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was having TV screens in the dining area. I understand it’s a “saloon” but having sports on whilst enjoying such a beautiful meal was a bit distracting for such a high class place. I wish the screens were only in the bar area. Other than that, I found the decor to be just right.

Man I wanted this to be good so badly. The menu looked amazing. I was looking forward to many return trips. Maybe it was a one off, I don’t know.

We had several appetizers, all underwhelming and a bland.

We were still hopeful for the main course. I ordered the jambalaya and my wife ordered the chicken sandwich. When our entrees arrived, the waiter mixed them up…. offering the jambalaya to my wife….no big deal at all…. until we realized that he had served the fried chicken in place of the sandwich.

I started on the jambalaya until he returned. Very bland and again underwhelming.

Excuse me, she ordered the chicken sandwich. Did she??? He replied, in a condescending tone. Ok well I will get that going right away.

He returned a few minutes later, grabbed a menu from another table and proceeded to argue his point. You see I thought when you ordered, you pointed at the fried chicken. (She didn’t) and why are you arguing? And if you thought that why did you offer her the jambalaya?

First ever one star review.

Celebrating a birthday with our daughter who loves New Orleans and their wonderful cuisine. Gem did not disappoint. Each dish was prepared to perfection. The green salad was dressed with a unique vinaigrette but absolutely delish.

Our waitress, Christina, was the cherry on the top as she subtly helped to create a festive atmosphere for us.

The banana pie is extraordinary.

Can’t wait to go back and try more fabulous dishes.

Some of the best Cajun cuisine I’ve had since moving to the PNW. Service was excellent. Had a party of 4 with multiple appetizers and entrees. Timing was good, didn’t find myself waiting for anything.

I highly recommend it.

Had a great first time experience at the Gem Creole Saloon. Gin fizz, Marion berry sour, voodoo fries, and biscuit bread pudding. Not pictured were the fish and chips (with catfish). Everything tasted delicious and I can’t wait to go back to try some other things on their menu. The bartender was extremely personable and really made an impression.

Heaven is a place on Earth. The single most amazing dining experience I can remember. Fantastic service, great atmosphere and the food is to die for. Shrimp and grits, jambalaya, gumbo and an amazing assortment of signature cocktails. I can’t wait to go back.

Happened upon Gem while wandering through town. It was amazing find. Was not expecting to find a creole restaurant but turned out to wonderful. The food was delicious and authentic and the staff was very friendly. It seems like a great place to gather and would definitely go back.

Flavors are great. They need to preheat the plates so the food stays warm. Use a microwave to heat dishes!
