Geechie’s Southern Style Restaurant is a full service Southern Style Restaurant that provides fresh made from scratch comforting foods, good for the soul. We have something for everyone, from chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, smothered pork chops, beans and rice, fried chicken, and a host of sides that are all American favorites like macaroni and cheese, Collard Greens, Candied yams and so much more. As an end to all good meals, is a good dessert. We offer a variety of made from scratch cakes, brownie a la mode, and of course peach cobbler. My bf brought me here yesterday for our anniversary and it was wonderful. I would’ve loved to see more & faster service because there was just the one girl working but even still, she was great.! Me and him both had fish with rice & gravy with Mac & cheese. I’ve never seen fish so big and just good.! Loved it and can’t wait to eat here again.

Geechies is the best soul food in Killeen. First and foremost, let me be clear: the food is absolutely fantastic…every single time. I’ve visited at least a dozen times and the food hasn’t disappointed once. Fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned, and full of that down-home flavor that reminds you of a professional chef teamed up with a down-south grandma and auntie in the kitchen. Zero complaints about the food. None. The catfish is perfectly seasoned and always fresh, the yams are spot on, the mac and cheese is legit, the rice with cream gravy hits every time, the baked chicken thighs fall right off the bone, and even the cornbread is done right.
Customer service in terms of friendliness is also great. The staff is warm, polite, and makes you feel welcome the moment. I want to make sure that part is acknowledged and appreciated.
My only complaint—and the reason this is a 4-star review instead of 5—is the extremely slow service that happens every Sunday. I’ve only visited on Sundays, so I can’t speak for other days of the week. And to be clear, the issue is NOT the fact that the food is cooked fresh or that Sundays are busy. Both of those make perfect sense.
The real problem is the system and staffing setup. There’s usually one person handling the register and phone orders, one person making to-go plates while also tending to dine-in customers, and another handling drinks and silverware. With such a limited staff covering so many roles, it doesn’t take much for the line to stall or for someone to get pulled in three different directions. There are also no signs explaining how the process works—and if the servers are busy, customers (especially new one) are left standing around trying to figure out what to do. So, if you’re getting a to-go plate, you just figure it out and join the line with everyone else. On average, the wait for food is 45 minutes to an hour.
To management and ownership: please take this review to heart but don’t take it personally. This isn’t about asking for patience or understanding. This is about an understaffed and inefficient system that shows itself every Sunday. As a Black man who supports Black businesses, I’ll continue to patronize Geechies. I’m simply asking that this concern be acknowledged and addressed. I also ask that you please avoid replying with the usual “Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback” type of response. I find those type responses lack accountability and really convey that management doesn’t care. Instead, it would mean a lot to hear directly what, if anything, you plan to do to improve the Sunday experience for your loyal customers.
The food is incredible, and the people are kind. Fix the Sunday workflow, and this is an easy 5-star spot every single time. Respectfully.

This place exceeded my expectations!!! Its so hard to find that comfort food that grandma used to make, but this food brought back so many wonderful memories!!! My family and I had the smothered pork chops with rice, collard greens, and baked mac and cheese 10/10!! Additionally we grabbed their wings and fries combo SOOO DELICIOUS!!!! My only regret is not coming here sooner especially considering they’re closing soon!!!

My first time here. They had just opened 12 noon. We were seated within 5 minutes of entering the door. The food was fresh out the stove. The seasoning of the fried chicken was delicious. The waffles was soft and worth every bit with the sweet cream. The sweet tea and lemonade mix was sweetened just right (best I’ve had in a while, better than Chick Fil A’s). The service was excellent. The servers attended to every need with smiles and a friendly attitude. The atmosphere was friendly, clean, inviting , and welcoming.

We are South Carolinians who wanted good southern style food. We traveled 2 hours to make sure our taste buds were satisfied. The servers were very helpful when ask questions, the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was superb. The food was seasoned, tasty and delicious; everyone enjoyed their meal and our palettes were completely satisfied. Home cooked southern food home away from home. Y’all, today we went to Geechie’s Southern Style Restaurant in Killeen, Texas and it was a taste of home, straight from the Lowcountry! I had a fine bowl of grits with yummy shrimp, but the best part was the three big ole pieces of catfish just packed with those good spices. Everybody had some fried chicken which were those yummy drummettes which took my tastebuds right back to the fellowship hall. My family loved the Three Sista Gurls chicken and waffles, the cornbread was fabulous and the collard greens could not have been tastier. You’ve got to try this place out! Come early, they get busy because the locals know where the good food is.
