Nice quiet place for dinner, no children allowed, which I don’t agree with but thats the rule. We were welcomed with a welcome Cocktail which was very tasty, mezcal. Crab appetizer was spectacular but small, flower salad was not good- too many competing flavors. entrees: catch of the day was mahi Mahi and wasn’t very flavorful, ended up eating all the vegetables instead. Husband loved his Shrimp Chipotle pasta. Dessert was delicious horchata ice cream!

We came to Gaviotas and had a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely deliciou. fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Rocio and Victor took great care of us; they were so friendly and attentive, answering all our questions with a smile. Their service truly made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and excellent hospitality!

The dress code said “casual” and we went in Summer Casuals. We were shoved to a corner as we were in shorts. We did not get a welcome drink. The soup took 1 1/2 hrs to come. It was tasty. The food did not come for 2 1/2hrs and walked off.
Sheraton Buganvilia has only 1 kitchen for 4 restaurants. Always go to the buffet. Do not order food at any restaurant.

Have eaten here a few times and loved it. This was our last. Ordered NY steak: what I could eat was tasty, the rest had gristle and I could not cut it or chew it; beets were raw and not edible; cottage-cheese looking side dish was totally tasteless. The waiter checked with us many times, and each time I told him about the poor quality of my meal. We ate outside and when the waiter brought us the bill, it was too dark to see it. The waiter suggested that I “use my cell phone”. I could not get the flashlight app to work. Waiter never offered a flashlight. Big waste of money. Never again.

Nice atmosphere. Very average food at best – rather bland. Presentation was excellent, food was not. Really the food had no flavor.
There is no wine list or drink menu; the wine selection was limited and not great – you have to try random wines with little to no description and request pricing. Also, they won’t tell you when you book, but there is a dress code and shorts are not allowed (this was an issue).

We were staying at the Sheraton and made a reservation here as part of our “all inclusive” package. The menu was quite limited but looked like a nice place and it is one of the only places on property with air conditioning. Upon arrival. There were no other patrons in the restaurant (definitely a sign just as the lack of recent reviews). When we were seated the waiter informed us that several of the menu items were NOT included in our all inclusive. All of which were the only things that I thought looked interesting on the menu. We got up and left and ate at another place instead. The prices that were listed on the menu for the items that I wanted were extremely high as well. They told us they would give us a 20% discount but the prices were double of what they should be. Skip this place as well as the other restaurants on the Sheraton property.

Gaviotas must mean slow… 2+ hrs and no food… way too long to serve.. old wine list with many unavailable wines … past its prime.. antiquated dress code… the whole hotel is falling apart … after 2+ hrs we took are dirty appetizer plates to the kitchen and left . They did not give us our welcome drink… they did not show us the cart with all the proteins …

Ordered the rib eye steak and it was the worst cut of steak I’d ever eaten. Stringy, chewy, and just a mess. I should’ve sent it back. Otherwise the sides were good and the service was good. But overall not worth it.

Great place for what it is. Living in NYC, you are used to good food having smaller portions. Mostly Americans and Canadians at the restaurant who are used to huge plates of food. Great food flavor, a free welcome cocktail, and splendid service.
