We had a wonderful experience. The dining room is a bit loud but it didn’t hinder our evening. I see a lot of reviews saying this place is for boomers. Well Friday night at 8pm there were quite a few tables with 30 somethings there having a great time. My only negative was the gentleman walking around visiting tables, not sure if he’s owner or manager, but he kept putting his hand on my shoulder while he was chatting with us at our table. I’m from Nola so I’m used to the warm friendlies but please don’t touch me if you don’t know me. Overall we had a great meal and lovely night.

Amazing service – we had a lovely anniversary dinner. Amazing international menu with variety of choices for ever taste. Only thing bad is how many tables there are in such a small space. You have to shout across the table to be heard. Still one of the best fine dining options in the city. Felt like I was back in Paris! The Hokkaido scallop crudo is top notch!

We were in New Orleans for a week and this was the BEST meal we had on vacation. The Chef’s specials were so tempting, we wanted to order them all. The menu had so many options as well. It does get busy so I would recommend an earlier reservation versus a late one. Also, take an Uber, parking in the local neighborhood can be challenging. This is a must visit place!! When we go back, this will be the first place we eat.

Great food, good ambience, older crowd around 40+ above age group. Griffon was our waiter & was great at his job. I was with my girlfriend for our first dinner date in New Orleans as we’ve never been & we ordered an Old Fashion/Paloma/ with food. Good strong Old Fashion but each one of my cups had chipped glass on the edge. I told the waiter & he said that drink was on the house, gave me another glass that was chipped as well, decided not to say anything. At end of dinner Owner (Patrick) was walking around & seemed friendly asked how we were doing. I told him about the cups & he said “yeah, that’s because I buy the cheapest glasses probably” like it was a joke. He said, “did you cut yourself?” I said almost & he asked if I already payed for my bill, (I had set cash inside bill fold with receipt already) he took a look at the $100 & more cash & kind of just dismissed it. Not truly a 5 star restaurant. Good food but could be better in several ways. Very very small bathrooms. Overall, ok experience. Payed about $160 including tip for total bill

I took my friend here for her birthday and unfortunately this is the first time I’ve had to give 1 star to a restaurant and here was our experience:

Our favorite restaurant in NOLA hands down. Tempted to give a bad review so people don’t find out how wonderful this place is and make it even harder to get a reservation . When we go to NOLA I make a reservation here before I even book the hotel. It’s just that good.

My husband and I travled to New Orleans for our 10 year anniversary. We found Gautreau’s online from the New Orleans travel guide. We ate here on our first night in town. Arriving to the restaurant we weren’t sure we were in the right place because there is no signage. We were seating within 10 mins of arriving, right at our reservation time.

Definitely my favorite meal of the trip! Ever since Sue Zemanick appeared on Top Chef, I have wanted to dine at Gautreau’s; however, considering she left back in 2016, it’s certainly taken me awhile to get here. Since a recent trip had us staying in the area, Gautreau’s seemed to be the place to have our fine dining experience. Also, one of my regular customers, who occasionally dines here, spoke highly of Gautreau’s, so that cinched it for me. The weather permitted us to enjoy a leisurely walk from the Alder Hotel, passing by St. Vincent Cemetery, Green Trees Early Childhood Village and lots of lovely houses along the way. Gautreau’s is in a lovely, but somewhat unassuming building. We actually had to check the address to be sure we were in the right place. I wondered whether the formality of the place might make it seem “stuffy”, but; although, our server, Patrick, was very professional, he also made us feel very comfortable. After being sure that the peppers wouldn’t be to spicy, I ordered the Duck Confit with Caramelized Pears and Sherry Jus, chiriboga blue cheese, lentils, and piquillo peppers as my appetizer. Anytime there is duck confit on a menu, I’m ordering it, and WOW, was this delicious! Highly, highly recommended. For entrees, I chose their fresh catch of Triple Tail because it’s always enjoyed when we have it where I serve. My friend ordered their Cracked Pepper Gnocchi with Brandied Creme Fraiche with morrels, green garbanzos, grilled spring onions and tomato confit. Both of us were exceedingly happy with our choices, my fish being cooked perfectly and her gnocchi being nicely tender. I’m very happy that I finally made it to Gautreau’s, and I know it won’t be too long before I make plans to dine here again.

Fine dining. My appetizer was weird… Pork belly with 3 clams and french fries. It was good, though. I had chicken, cooked just right, and my dinner companions had BBQ shrimp. Dessert was a banana split… Really good.
