I appreciate your reaching out. It was a bunch of things, starting with the group orders mixed up (2nd visit with same problem), then took a while for the food to get served. Then the food was small portions and the servers weren’t so friendly (not bad) and the overall experience pretty much felt like i said….meh, not worth the effort of getting there.
Positives: The prices at Gauchos are reasonable, and the outdoor seating offers a beautiful view of the water and the Erasmusbrug, making it a potentially great spot when the weather is nice.
Negatives: Unfortunately, the service and food quality were far below expectations. When we arrived, we waited a long time before being seated and had to ask for assistance. The table we were given was dirty with leftover food, sauces, and drinks from previous diners. It took 20 minutes and a direct request to get it cleaned, even though multiple employees walked by and noticed it.
After the table was finally cleaned, we ordered a Pepsi Max with a slice of lemon, a chardonnay, and bread as an appetizer. The drinks took another 10-15 minutes to arrive, and the order was incorrect—no chardonnay was served, and I received a regular Pepsi instead of Pepsi Max, without the lemon slice. We were also never asked if we wanted more drinks during our 1.5-hour visit.
We never received the bread we ordered, though it initially appeared on the receipt (it was removed upon payment). The main courses were also disappointing: the grilled chicken was dry, and the grilled salmon was overcooked and lacked flavor. The fries were overly oily, making the meal less enjoyable.
Overall, while the location and pricing have potential, the service and attention to detail need significant improvement.
I was also very impressed with the service provided by your waiter, Görkem. He was kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. His professionalism and positive attitude truly enhanced the overall dining experience.
Thank you once again for such a memorable evening. I look forward to visiting your restaurant again soon.
After sitting for a staggering 45 minutes, and having to ask twice, we finally received menus at 20:00. Another 20 minutes passed before our drinks arrived, by which point our initial hunger had morphed into irritated anticipation. The appetizers, when they eventually graced our table, arrived another 20 minutes later.
The main course? That took a further 35 minutes. By this point, our dining experience had devolved into a test of endurance. The food itself was mediocre, but frankly, the prolonged wait had soured any potential enjoyment.
The service was abysmal. The staff were consistently slow, seemingly absent, and displayed a distinct lack of interest in their patrons. It felt as though we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers.
In short, if you have an evening to waste and enjoy being ignored, Gauchos is the place for you. For anyone else seeking a timely and attentive dining experience, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.
When you see this amazing location of the restaurant with the huge terras near water and the restaurant itself from inside you await a wonderful evening but your euphoria disappears as soon as you visit their toilet! Extremely dirty, stinky and disgusting toilets! It was very embarrassing and unpleasant to use that place…
One of the nice things – there is an outdoor parking from the “back” side of the restaurant but it is not very big so you should be lucky to find a spot at rush hours.
Waiting time before you receive your food is veeery long. By the way, there are contradictory feelings regarding food as steak was quite good, mushrooms were fantastic but for example lamb was super dry and hard and fries (both french and argentine) was terrible: overcooked, crusty and inedible like if you chew plastic.
Staff is quite friendly but also bit rude as by unknown reason they ignore one person from our company of 7 people.
To be honest I would not visit this restaurant once again.
They take way too long to even come up and take your order for just drinks, and just drinks take for ever to get to the table. If it wasn’t for my mother’s birthday, I would have gotten up and left.
I do not recommend. The staff look at you like you’re stupid and they assume you know everything they have. We didn’t have the drinks menu, so we asked for it, and the waiter sighed deeply.
