One of the only options for a regular lunch on Thanksgiving Day in downtown Louisville. We came in looking for exactly that and found what we wanted. A few things to know before you go:
1. Yes, you can easily drop $20/pp for lunch here without appetizers, alcohol or dessert.
2. Their menu is very limited.
3. They make a very good burger but the price point is a bit high for what you get.
4. Speed and tempo of service is a bit off. As for somethings and they show up in a minute or two while others required repeated requests and arrive after what seems like long enough that someone had to run to the store.
The services was great and the omelette maker on duty when we were there seemed to work like an artist. Our omelettes were beautifully presented (though mine was slightly undercooked) That having been said and despite the increased options and nicer atmosphere than the upstairs concierge lounge, there was nothing super special about the food. The grits had a weird texture like a hardened layer, and the biscuits were sort of steaming in their warming tray which took away the crispiness one would hope from a biscuit.
I think breakfast places owe it to their patrons to make sure their coffee is top notch. Coffee is the backbone of any breakfast or morning. In this case the coffee was fine but not great.
They had a limited tea selection (my wife prefers tea to coffee) and they did have gluten-free toast available which my wife appreciated and enjoyed. Our waiter also went above and beyond when she asked for almond milk for her oatmeal by leaving the restaurant and getting some for her at the Starbucks in the hotel.
Overall we loved the service and atmosphere. This was out last meal in Louisville, and the last on a 10 day vacation…so literally the last taste in our mouth. We chose to eat in the hotel where we were staying out of convenience since we had to make a flight and didn’t have extra time to head elsewhere. So the food offerings were fairly basic and not the best breakfast we had on the trip, but it did the job.
