Absolutely fantastic ready to go back and try again for sure. Waitress was fantastic, the food was delicious and the drinks were on point. If you have never been should most definitely give it a try!

The girls who were working at the Valentines pop up bar upstairs were so kind and friendly, we loved talking to them while they made our drinks. The drinks were great- there was a really wide variety of options for varying tastes and both drinks my friend and I had were delicious. The tacos were fantastic as well. There’s lots of convenient parking nearby as well, both street parking and small public lots in the nearby area (within 5 min walking distance). Loved this place for a girls night out!

Dined here for the first time on a Saturday night. Service was exceptionally slow – we waited over 45 mins for our simple order of queso/chips, three tacos, and a bowl. Most issues seemed to be with the kitchen. The food came out cold. The queso was so thick and gloopy, you could create literal peaks with it. We left 75% of it untouched whereas I would normally be holding myself back from eating all of the queso. Tacos were served on a crunchy corn shell that was so chewy/hard, I had to tear it off to have my first bite. Then the avocado cream sauce was excessively salty to the degree that I sent my dish back as it was inedible. Super bummer. They did a remake quickly and subbed the avo sauce for sour cream, shells were also better this time and the food was hot. I was bummed that it was as bad as it was bc I live locally and was looking forward to maybe having a new restaurant to put in the rotation. Atmosphere was nice and the decor is cozy. Server and staff were friendly and attentive.

Good menu with lots of taco and salad choices. I expected chips and salsa to be included as is the case with most other similar restaurants in the area. I’ve never been disappointed in the food quality or service. Taco Tuesday’s are a good value and their drink specials are worth a try. Support downtown Irwin and visit them.

The nachos here are more than enough to share (and still take home some leftovers). They are probably some of the best nachos I’ve ever had, so definitely 5 stars for those.

On Tuesday night, tacos are $2 each (you have to get 3, they all have to be the same, and there is a limited selection of meats to choose from), so it’s a good way to try something new or a new combination. The combo I chose was pretty good (chicken, pineapple salsa, and avocado cream), but wouldn’t be my choice for next time. There are enough combinations to keep coming back.

I highly recommend the margaritas, especially the lavender violet and the spicy blood orange. They are fabulous in flavor and fairly priced.

They currently charge some form of convenience fee of $2 per check, but we were told they are working on updating the pricing on their menu to remove that extra unadvertised surprise fee on the check…

The restaurant is chilly in February. Bring a sweater. And wear socks.

It was not extremely busy when we were there, so the noise level was surprising. While we couldn’t hear other conversations, we did have to talk louder to hear one another. Also not something that would keep me from returning, but just something worth noting.

Overall, we love supporting small, locally owned businesses, and we certainly intend to return… especially for some more of those nachos.

If i could give 100 stars, I would. This place is absolutely awesome. The man who was our server was outstanding, and very friendly. Tacos!! Were damn good! Blueberry violet margarita was the best margarita i have ever had. If we are ever in the area again, definitely stopping here.

Corn tacos with crispy chicken is not good. I was hoping for street tacos with a softer corn shell. These cracked. Our waitress forgot to give us straws and napkins. Also, one of the songs that came on had a foul cuss word. Not impressed.

We used to go here all the time when they first opened and for a few years after but after a little break, we went back and the place really went downhill. There was nothing on the tables. I asked for a kids menu and they just told me what kids meals they had. Our food came out quickly because it was dead in there and I got an attitude when I asked for napkins. Then I asked for ketchup for my child’s chicken nuggets & fries and the girl who brought the food rudely said we don’t have ketchup here, it’s a taco place. Wow. Well they always did before and yeah kids do like ketchup on their fries and hot dogs so too bad I guess. I was then offered ranch which my autistic child does not like. I explained he had texture issues so I got an eye roll then she walked away. Our server apologized and brought BBQ sauce so at least she tried. Needless to say, my child did not eat his dinner. We always experienced pleasant service before but it seemed like the wait staff turned over every few weeks. Oh and they were out of the first 2 craft beers we ordered so we settled on Yuengling. Our tacos were filled with dry, tasteless barbacoa & dry, tasteless chicken with scant toppings and little sauce. It was never like that before. I don’t think we’ll be going back like apparently most others aren’t either.

I have been to Gato many times..it had been awhile since I was last there. I ordered the street corn nachos..and a classic margarita. The drink didn’t taste right..it was sour..The nachos..had hardly any queso on them..and a ton of Pico. The chips were not the same either..at one time their food was amazing..I asked the group I was with..if the food was the same as before..They all said NO..it wasn’t as crowded as it use to be on Friday either..could have been the holiday weekend..

The amount of creativity put into the food, beverages, and atmosphere was impressive. Even while very busy, the staff was friendly and efficient. My favorite taco place, hands down.
