We were visiting friends and they took us out to eat here. Everything we ordered was delicious. So fresh. I was thoroughly impressed. I was not expecting such freshly made food. You could tell it was all made onsite. Our server was friendly and prompt. Looking forward to visiting my friends in the future just to eat here again.

Unassuming, laid-back place in Smyrna open 4:30-9 Wed-Sat. It was well attended when we went at 6:30 on a Sat night. My wet burrito was excellent, a good portion, half of which, went home with me. My wife had the crispy chicken wrap which she said was the best she’s had; breaded, juicy but not greasy. Service was friendly and on point.

We visited Gather (formerly Smyrna Bar) for the first time since the name change, and it absolutely delivered. We’ve always had good experiences here, and this visit reaffirmed why.

The atmosphere is simple, cozy, and warm. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your meal. It feels welcoming and unpretentious the moment you walk in.

The staff were attentive and friendly, offering additional wine suggestions based on our selections, which made the experience feel personal rather than transactional.

I ordered from the weekend specials menu. I love that they offer seasonal daily and weekly features. It keeps things interesting and shows real care in the kitchen.

The fish basket was outstanding. It felt like an elevated, home-cooked meal: crispy hand-battered fish that was flaky and tender inside, perfectly seasoned golden fries, and hush puppies that were crunchy on the outside and pillow-soft in the center. The tartar sauce was incredibly flavorful and tied everything together beautifully.

We finished with the key lime bars, and honestly… it made my day. The filling was perfectly tart, layered over a chewy, dense, buttery graham cracker crust, topped with fresh whipped cream and the most unexpected touch: a paper-thin candied apple slice with lavender buds. Creative, balanced, and memorable.

This place is truly a gem. The quality far exceeds the price point. You can easily spend the same amount on a fish dinner at Culver’s (their meal runs about $17) and receive something that pales in comparison.

Do yourself a favor and support this local restaurant. It’s absolutely worth it!

I hadn’t been here in years and my husband had never been, so it was the choice for date night.

I wasn’t feeling very adventurous, so I just got a burger. It came with homemade potato chips which can be plain or flavored. I got garlic Parmesan and they were phenomenal!! 10/10 recommend and I’m not a huge lover of homemade chips! The burger was very good. They did NOT skimp on the toppings! There were two THICK slices of tomato and onion and plenty of lettuce. It was almost too big to eat.

If you order water, they bring a large carafe, so you don’t have to ask for refills.

Our server was awesome. She saw me looking at one frame of historical photos, so even after they closed, she took her time to make sure I saw all the historical photos and articles that the restaurant has preserved, including a picture of her (great?) grandparents! She also briefed me on some local history; I really enjoyed her.

Smyrna has a rich past. I want to go back and explore more another day. When I do, I’ll be sure to hit this place again for another great meal with awesome service!

ETA: I went back this past Saturday and Smyrna Bar did not disappoint!
This time I had an olive burger. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. I got the sweet potato fries on the side and they were also very good.
Friend #1 got the Smyrna Fire burger and absolutely loved it.
Friend #2 got the pumpkin seed pesto pasta. She said “If we weren’t in public, I would lick this dish clean.” And “I would totally drive back here to get this again.”
We got to see Joslyn sing and play guitar. She was phenomenal. The patio vibe is amazing.
I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s worth the drive!

We came in a party of 5 including a 3 year old, and everything was top notch! We were impressed with the specials menu and the homemade touch to all the “typical” bar food. I got the chicken tenders and have NEVER had chicken strips that good! I wasn’t expecting them to be so juicy and perfectly seasoned, but I was thrilled with my meal. Another guest got a burger and the toppings were piled high, and someone else got the X-mas burrito as a bowl and it was at least 2 hefty meals-worth! The 3 y.o. got her meal first, which is wonderful. Her kids cup was a mini mason jar mug with a secure lid. 2 of our party got alcoholic drinks which were enjoyed greatly. We arrived just after opening, and I’m glad we did because there was a steady trickle of guests coming in after us! Our server was attentive, friendly, and kept the water carafe full.

This place is a bit off the beaten path but worth a stop. They occasionally do themed dinner weekends, we happened to pop in on muppets night and frog legs were on the menu (delicious)! The regular menu is a typical pub offering but not ordinary. The staff takes pride in what comes out of the kitchen. Burgers are actually cooked correctly to your preference. The hand cut fries are better than elsewhere and nicely seasoned. If there is a special, I would go that route. The chef puts a lot of time into sourcing local and making everything from scratch. The cocktail list is creative and the tap list will satisfy all tastes.

Always worth the drive to this little slice of heaven. First time we ate here was during the pandemic and have returned many times. Never had a bad meal. We went last night. Yum. My wife had salmon and scallops and I had the Gyro plate. We enjoyed both and finished it off by splitting a piece of the cake. Wow. People are friendly and food is top drawer.
