Stopped for dinner while driving through Keokuk, Iowa. Service was good, their Hawkeye burger (8 Oz) was cooked to order and came with all the fixings. I had mashed potatoes with brown gravy as my side (not shown) with was quite good and hit the spot in a cold night. That’s why no picture, I ate it too quick. Building had cool old/fashioned ceiling fans on a belt system

First of all ,the buffet at this place is fantastic. The food has excellent flavor and selection is awesome.
It just happened to be my wife’s birthday and when they found out about it, the whole staff came out of the kitchen and sang happy birthday to her and gave her some cheesecake which was much appreciated.
IThey made us feel special that day.
Staff is very friendly and attentive. The owner came out to our table and we chatted for a while. He’s a professional chef and he cares about food quality. Please go there as often as you can ,we will.

Gate City is definitely one of the better restaurants, not only in Keokuk but surrounding towns! We don’t have a lot of options out here so when Gate City opened up, we were excited. They have a full buffet for $24.99, soup & salad bar for $12.99, and anything on the menu if you don’t want the buffet.

We love the fries catfish, mashed potatoes, green beans, fried shrimp, and all you can eat prime rib on Sundays! Can’t beat the price. They also have a variety of soups and a full salad bar which is very fresh, as well as a variety of breakfast items — love their French toast. But the customer service is what sets them apart — shoutout to Nikita and Cindy for being the best servers! They are so attentive and friendly. Nikita also makes all of their cheesecakes which are so delicious!! Especially their Strawberry, Apple, Key Lime, and Turtle cheesecakes. Yum! We hear that people will travel to dine at this buffet so check them out if you’re in the area.

A wonderful relaxing evening celebrating our 33rd. Wedding Anniversary. Food was great. Salmon was my favorite from the food bar. Welcoming hostesses and interesting paintings by local artists for sale on the walls. We plan to return again soon.

Our extended family met for Thanksgiving lunch buffet. We had a large party and were seated right away at the time of our reservation. Service was fantastic – Fast, friendly, accurate. The food was amazing— a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner without the work. Turkey, chicken, salmon, catfish, prime rib, ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, rolls, soups, salad bar and of course pie for dessert! Reasonably priced.
We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

If I could give more stars I sure would. Everything, I mean everything was exceptional. The best high quality buffet with prime rib, ham, salmon, chx fried steak, ribs, chicken, fish. The cleanest salad bar with tons of variety. Soup bar as well. Our new favorite place to eat.

Crystal and Sandy were amazing with their customer service. Soul the owner was very nice and checked in on the quality of the food. I can tell he is passionate about food and taking care of customers – he is genuine. I have the 12 oz t-bone steak medium rare, with the sautéed mushrooms and onions, and fries. The steak was perfectly cooked and was one of the best tasting steaks I have ever had. The sautéed mushrooms and onions were absolutely beautiful. The fries? Perfect. The food was 10 out of 10. Service 10 out of 10. Can’t wait to be back!

This place is a hidden gem! I have no idea how they’re serving such high-quality food at such a reasonable price, but I’m not questioning it—just enjoying it. Well worth the 40-minute drive from Quincy, and I’ll definitely be telling my friends.

From the outside, the restaurant gives off a cozy, family-friendly vibe, but the food is absolutely elevated. We started with the bruschetta, which was almost a meal on its own. Each thick slice of toasted bread was topped with a generous dollop of melted fresh mozzarella—so good! My husband and I had to take half of it home just to save room for our meal.

We both ordered steaks. I went with the 9 oz Prime Filet for $40 with two sides. Holy cow—literally. First off, it’s rare to find a restaurant serving Prime steak, which is the best you can get outside of Japanese Wagyu. I also got the mushroom cream sauce on the side—partly because I wanted to try it, but also because a great steak shouldn’t need sauce. And wow. The steak was perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and melted like butter in my mouth. Then I tried the sauce. I don’t know if I can eat steak without it ever again.

For sides, I had the grilled asparagus and sautéed vegetables, while my husband went with the steak fries and asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. I was completely stuffed… and then I saw the desserts.

I have never seen more beautiful desserts in a restaurant. Every single one is made from scratch, and they even take whole cake and cheesecake orders with advance notice (which I will absolutely be doing). I took a video of the dessert case, and our waitress told me it wasn’t even looking as good as usual! I went for the strawberries and cream cake, and my husband got the strawberry cheesecake (which he was too full to eat and brought home for the kids). WOW. Just WOW.

The service was just as great as the food. Our waitress was super attentive, and the owner/chef even came out to personally greet our table. I’ve already sent texts to my friends—this is where we’re celebrating our next birthdays. I just hope it’s not too busy when the secret gets out!

Stopped in last week . . . excited for the new lunch buffet. So disappointing. Every item I tried was no warmer than room temperature . . . and flavorless. My husband uses a walker and the ramp from the parking lot is insanely steep . . . the vestibule doors trapped us both until we collapsed the walker to step inside. Seating arrangement hinders disabled ingress and egress. He was so annoyed by the time he reached the table he ate a few bites of overcooked salmon and refused to stay.
