Upscale Japanese home food
True flavors with authentic ingredients. Hard to find such a refined eel in Europe and rice was cooked perfectly.
You feel it’s cooked with know how and intention. A very very good spot for real Japanese food in Milan.

It’s a cozy, popular Japanese fusion restaurant. The star and the service were great. However I wasn’t too impressed by the okonomiyaki I ordered. For
Me Japanese ponzu and majo just didn’t go well. But I noticed that others ordered all looked great.
It’s a popular spot. If you don’t have a reservation, it might be a wait.

You need to eat here! The Japanese Lombardy inspired fusion hits such perfect flavor notes. Right away you’ll be asked if you have reservations. If not you’ll likely be seated anyway. The service is prompt, caring, and not over bearing – plus they speak English and Japanese. The fried chicken was delicious. Anyone should be happy to try such a flavor packed dish, especially when it stays crisp covered in tartar sauce. The eggplant and potato salad appetizers are smooth and delicate. So far I haven’t tried a bad menu item. You should really take a break from pizza and risotto to give this establishment a taste.

We went to this place to try their lunch menu and honestly it was really tasty. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and greet you with a smile on their face. They suggested us to get separate menus even though I wanted to try the Katsu sandwich so bad, but at the end I was very happy with my curry ( i ended up stealing my gf’s katsu). Also, the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food that you are getting and the service is very fast which is convenient for quick lunch. Breaks between work. I definitely recommend you to go to this place and i will be there for sure to try their dinner menu.

First of all, the atmosphere is incredible, casual but elegant. There are lunch menu sets with 1 main dish, 2 sides, and miso soup and they are quite authentic. The most impressive is the pudding dessert (6€), tasted as the expected firm Japanese style. The onigiri (3€) comes in 2 flavors: tuna and prune. The small flaws are the matcha sponge cake doesn’t have much matcha flavor while the cream on top was a little too milky; the katsusando wasn’t as crispy as expected on the outside. But overall the experience was great.

Gastronomia Yamamoto in Milan is a cozy and welcoming spot that offers authentic Japanese flavors. The ambiance is simple yet inviting, making it perfect for a relaxed meal. The Katsu Sando (pork cutlet sandwich) is a standout—crispy, tender, and served with a fresh side salad. Another must-try is the Japanese curry with rice, which is rich, flavorful, and comforting.
The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. It’s a great place for anyone wanting to enjoy traditional Japanese dishes beyond sushi. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner, especially if you’re looking to try something unique and delicious!

A good Japanese restaurant. The eel we liked a lot. The mushrooms were a bit cold. The portions are small/pricy

Just came back from Milan and had dinner here. The staff could not have been nicer even though our Italian was virtually nonexistent. The food was great. Not the fanciest place in the world but more than worth the trip. You won’t be disappointed.

My first traditional Japanese cuisine experience. After eating Japanese food for years now I knew this was different immediately

Important: Reserve a table! Although we managed to get a spot on Saturday without a reservation (We came 10 or 15min after the opening time and got the last available table. We were very lucky.)
Love their logo, the decor is minimalistic but cosy, and the pictures on the wall are a nice touch (I even wanted to buy one haha)
Don’t leave without trying the “Unadon” (amazing eel that we haven’t found in any other place we had tried before in Italy).
And the panna cotta was to die for – perfect dessert!
When you order the lunch dish, you get rice with fish/curry/etc. and three side dishes (including a miso soup).
I was really pleasantly surprised by the onigiri with plum.
The staff was really friendly and helpful.
They have also a small shop inside, where you can buy some food, teas, fans and a Japanese packing cloth.
