Best Chile relleno I’ve had in the last 30 years! No joke the food was fresh and delicious! To add the owner was right on site delivering my meal and asking about my day! The salsa is spicy (medium-hot) but that’s how I like it can’t wait to return for me also planing to bring my mother when she visits later this month. Kudos to the Garza family for this little gem just a short trip east of Colorado springs.

Popped in here on my way to Paint Mines Park from Denver via back roads. Squeaky clean with great service. Food was excellent. The chili relleno was crunchy and fresh. The chips and salsa were tasty. Would definitely go back or go out of my way to revisit.

Ordered the steak egg cheese breakfast burrito had them smother it with green chili. I wasn’t expecting the green chili to be loaded with tender pork chunks. It was absolutely delicious! I will always have my breakfast burrito smothered with their green chili. They also have a delicious hot sauce and salsa they make homemade.

I’ve ordered pick up from Garza’s a few times now and have continually been impressed by how fresh their food is. The refried beans are delicious and not overly watery like at other restaurants. I had their chorizo, egg, and potato breakfast meal and the potatoes were incredibly tender and the chorizo well-seasoned. I’ve also tried their carnitas street taco and steak and egg burrito – both were excellent and the meats were very tender. I’m so glad Garza’s came to town!

Family of five from KC visiting, stopped today for a late lunch. This is rough TexMex guys. Refried beans stiff and tasted like a can. Kids got crunchy tacos, chicken was bland and dry. We asked the server for more salsa (5 full sized people) she grabbed the single half full salsa bowl on the table and just topped it off with more off brand chunky Pace, no refill on chips. The tamale sauce and house made hot sauce were great, but the tamale masa fell apart, it was way too loose and barely seasoned pork. Dont be fooled travelers, the high stars must come from supportive locals.

I love family restaurants. It’s even better when the family is known for fresh produce at farmers markets and awesome canned food. Mmmmm….. Love thos candied jalapenos!
Anyway, we’ve been there twice now, even brought neighbors. I really enjoyed the food. And it appears the menu items are growing! Keep it up!!!

The food tasted like it was all boil in a bag and was dried out. All 4 people in my party felt this way. The chile verde plate was literally just green chile….it had no pork in it.
We were super excited to have somewhere else to eat in calhan, but will sadly not be returning. The staff was friendly. But the customers were loud and it was hard to hear anything anyone was saying

We placed an online order for pickup. When I arrived 15 minutes later the order was bagged and ready. Drove 2 blocks over to our house and the food was cold. The green chili
Is just a shredded pork with zero flavor. We ordered a smothered burrito and the Chile relleno dinner. This is supposed to be a farm to table restaurant. I find it hard to believe. Wish I had taken pictures I instead of throwing it all in the trash.

Husband’s, DONT LOOK @ YOUR WIFE FUNNY when she wants to take something home from a restaurant, because u won’t get chip. Explanation follows below. At any rate, I’m a mexican food SNOB & rightly so; soy de Tucson. I was pleasantly surprised, the food here is amazing! Our server was great, the cook was flexible & everyone here is very customer service oriented. Guacamole is usually hit or miss but THEY NAILED IT!!. My tacos were awesome & my husband’s burrito was ginormous. Their chips are really tasty. I tried the green chili by dipping a chip into it & BINGO; that was a winning combination. My husband ate his entire burrito; so of course, he gave me a funny look when I wanted to buy some chips to take home. Thankfully i was not deterred. After I brought some hm, I told my husband don’t be alarmed when the oil runs up the chip bag. This explanation was merely to point out how the esthetic look of the chip bag was going to change. In NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM was i giving him the green light to help himself. But the next day, I found him sitting like a king eating MY chips. So I did a SNATCH & GRAB & i explained how he didn’t want to take anything home from the restaurant & that he even gave me a funny look. Then I politely handed him, his store bought chips. WOMP WOMP. BTW, I took my friend for a delicious breakfast & bought both of us chips & salsa to go. Yup, you guessed it, my husband had his way with my chips already. Thank you so much for opening a mexican restaurant in Calhan.
