Noodles: Thick, slightly curly, with a perfect chewy bite. These are specially sourced from a local supplier — not the mass-market stuff most ramen shops default to. You can tell immediately. The texture holds up in the rich broth without going soft, which is exactly what Jiro-style noodles need to do.
Soup: Thick, aggressively porky, with bits of rendered fat suspended throughout. Rich umami that builds with every sip. Get the garlic — this is not the style of ramen where you skip it.
Chashu: Thick-cut, tender, well-seasoned. Generous portions, especially at the large size.
Toppings: Steamed bean sprouts and cabbage (野菜マシマシ via the “veg bomb”) work as a perfect palate cleanser between slurps of the heavy broth. Fish powder and black pepper are excellent additions. The raw egg for dipping sukiyaki-style is a great move if you want to mellow out the richness.
What sets Garlic High apart from places just putting “Jiro-style” on the menu is the integrity behind it. They’ve actually shut down on days when the soup wasn’t up to their standard rather than serve a subpar bowl. That’s the mentality of a serious ramen shop, not a business chasing ticket counts. They do one thing, and they do it perfectly.
The mazesoba is also worth trying, but the soup is the star. Go hungry.

We went there for lunch on a Thursday at 12:30. This place has no signage so easy to miss, it’s at the front of Seto Restaurant and was the fish and chips place, which was pretty good. It is now a bare bones ramen place with basically two items, ramen with or without broth. There was a line outside and we put us on the waiting list, it was a 15 minute wait to get a table.
The interior is a cozy table and counter setup with ordering and payment via the QR code at the table. We ordered the small regular ramen and a side of hot sauce. The other options are to up the garlic and umami fat, which cost more. There was a server and a cook when we were there and it took a while for our noodles to be brought to us. The ramen consists of thick chewy noodles in a tasty broth topped with a thick slice of pork, a bit of pork fat, bean sprouts and minced raw garlic. Wifey doesn’t like raw garlic so she gave me hers and I got the Extra Heavy.
It’s popular, with a line outside and a waiting list. You may not like the raw garlic. Portions are generous and the smalls were perfect for us. Since the server was also bussing tables the service was expectedly slower. Repeatable limited menu ramen place.
A huge plus is the level of customization — you can choose small, medium, or large portions, and fully adjust the noodle firmness, flavor intensity, and amount of garlic. If you’re okay with raw egg, I highly recommend adding one and dipping the noodles into it — it’s absolutely delicious.
The noodles are thick and very chewy, and the chashu has a nice char-grilled flavor that I really enjoyed. One of the reasons I love Jiro-style ramen is the generous amount of vegetables, and this place definitely delivers.
If you’re looking for a bold, hearty, customizable ramen in this area, I highly recommend giving this place a try.
I sashayed in at 11:45 AM on a Friday, and even though the parking lot was packed tighter than my corset on a Saturday night, I snagged one of the last parking spots. No wait for a table either – talk about perfect timing! The interior? Chef’s kiss – brand spanking new with more style than a pageant queen’s wardrobe. OSB walls that scream “We’re hip!” and Edison bulb pendant lights that said “Yes, we have taste AND budget!”
Now darling, I ordered the small ramen with regular everything because mama didn’t come here to play – and sweetie, that “small” was PLENTY. Any bigger and I’d need a forklift and a nap.
The broth? Perfection incarnate. Not too salty (unlike some queens I know), not too rich (unlike the men I wish I knew), but SO flavorful it made my taste buds want to tip me. Those noodles looked hand-pulled fresh from heaven’s kitchen, thick and chewy with that perfect bounce – giving me life, giving me texture, giving me EVERYTHING.
And the garlic? Just enough to ward off vampires but not enough to ward off a first date. It’s called Garlic HIGH for a reason, and baby, I was ELEVATED.
The whole experience was smoother than my tucking technique. I just hope this place doesn’t blow up and have two-hour waits because I WILL be back, and I won’t be taking no for an answer!
Five stars, no notes, absolutely stunning. Go immediately!
XOXO, Your Local Ramen-Loving Queen
They also have a spicy house sauce available upon request, which adds a nice kick.
I noticed they’re running a Valentine’s Day special today. A customer next to us took on the challenge and won a gift — the T-shirt he received was so cute that I honestly wanted one too!
Friendly atmosphere and always a fun place to visit. Definitely worth checking out.
The noodles seem hand made, thick with good texture. Great addition to the neighborhood.
This used to be Seto Fish & Chips, so just look out for that sign when parking here. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm, and the workers were very nice.
I got a small and my boyfriend got a medium. They really pack the bowls with lots of thick chewy noodles and meat! I think it is a lot heavier than the other ramen in the area, and the noodles are very different. My boyfriend found out from the server that the style is Jiro style, which is essentially the very thick noodles with bean sprouts. The broth is super good and flavorful with lots of garlic.
Would recommend if you’re looking to try out a different style of ramen, and to come with an open mind! It is nice to have something different to try out in the area.
