We loved it all from aperol spritz & zummus, to the finish with affogato (which wasn’t on the menu, but our server David made it happen!) and my husband loved the pistachio cheesecake. Great seats overlooking the bay, while we watched the sun set over the bay. What a great way to spend a Friday evening! Our server David was very attentive, and provided all the details of the dishes. We’ll be back.

We had a great evening at Garibaldi. We made reservations for rail seating at sunset. The view was gorgeous. And they had happy hour which means two dollar oysters!
Service was fantastic. David was so attentive and friendly. He checked on us the perfect amount of times and refilled my wine glass whenever it was empty.
Food was good. We enjoyed raw oysters and the baked oysters. The blue zone salad was really tasty. And the seafood spaghetti was good. My only complaint is that the baked oysters and the spaghetti were not hot. They were just warm. Like room temperature. Other than that, everything was great.

A hidden gem of great food, service, and views. We came for the sunset happy hour. Ordered a half-dozen oysters, arancini, and a couple cocktails from the happy hour menu, and stayed for more items from the dinner menu. Jeff provided excellent service: present, but not hovering.

Decided to check out the speakeasy style restaurant while staying at the Intercontinental. I had a lovely dinner experience served by David. He provided excellent service for a wonderful meal. Happy hour until sunset was a treat with the margarita and two dollar oysters a nice starter. Main was delightful with a side of perfectly cooked steak. Will be back.

Excellent service and a beautiful view!
The host Keily gave us excellent service. A plus was that she speaks Spanish and explained all the history to us! I felt like I was walking into a museum!! definitely a whole experience. The food was 10/10. I would definitely come back again!

Our server David was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. The whipped feta served with their house made pita was absolutely amazing! Lollipop lamb chops were mouth watering and the pistachio cheesecake was divine.

Enjoyed the view, the vibe, and especially the service. I had the vegetarian bucatini, it was fresh, wish it had more flavor or ricotta but overall decent. David was my server and he was very nice and informative when I was selecting food and beverage options. I’d definitely come back for sunset.

Such a cosy place to be! We had dinner the first time we arrived and came back for more the next day! The oysters are soooo good, we couldn’t get enough of them. The service is really good, everyone is super friendly and makes sure you don’t get cold with heathers and blankets if the wind is too much. Definitely go if you’re heading to san diego, it has a great view also

Garibaldi, San Diego: A Sardinian Love Letter With a Michelin-Worthy Soul

San Diego isn’t lacking in good food. But Garibaldi? That’s a different beast entirely — a refined sanctuary that doesn’t just serve dinner, it curates an experience. It’s a hushed escape above the clamor of downtown, where every element is dialed in with reverence and intent — from the lighting to the linen, the Amari to the anchovy.

It all begins with Kelsey, a hostess whose poise and warmth feel like the velvet rope at a private club — welcoming, but unmistakably special. There’s a comfort in her grace, a sense that you’ve crossed into a space where things are about to get memorable.

Then, there is Jaielene — our high priestess of flavor. She didn’t simply take our order — she took us on a voyage. Her knowledge of the menu was encyclopedic, yes, but delivered with such passion that it felt personal. Every wine pairing she recommended was a study in balance, each selection complementing and elevating the dish it accompanied. But she didn’t stop there.

Mid-meal, Jaielene returned with a curated selection of Amari liqueurs, presenting them not as drinks, but as portals. Each pour came with a story, a purpose, a memory. The flavors — bitter, herbal, hauntingly complex — transported us to sun-drenched Italian fields, cobbled piazzas, and slow Mediterranean afternoons. It was a sensory passport, and she the most elegant of guides.

And then Jeff, behind the bar — calm, composed, brilliant. His understanding of Amari mirrored Jaielene’s — both deep and dynamic. He didn’t push anything; he simply listened, observed, and delivered the precise pour to match the moment. The kind of bartender who makes you feel like a regular by the second round.

The food? Sublime. The “fresh and forgot” oysters — bracing, pristine, kissed with just the memory of the sea. The fried calamari — light, greaseless, with a brightness that danced across the palate.

Then came the Spaghetti al Ricci di Mare, a declaration of culinary love. Each bite — tangled with uni, oceanic butter, and depth — lingered long after the plate was cleared. The Sardinian Culurgiones, delicately filled with potato and mint, were soft, fragrant sighs of comfort — traditional, yet dressed with fine-dining elegance.

The music — subtle yet soul-stirring — felt curated, not queued. It set the room’s tempo with precision: cool, modern, and intimate. The kind of soundtrack that makes you lean in and slow down. It wasn’t just background — it was part of the architecture of the night, wrapping the room in a kind of cinematic exclusivity.

Garibaldi doesn’t boast. It doesn’t need to. It knows exactly what it is: a rarefied experience executed with humility, excellence, and soul. Every member of the team, every dish, every drop of Amari tells the same story — one of reverence for craft and a desire to transport.

In a city of good meals, Garibaldi delivers a great one. One that deserves stars.
