Great Eastern-style BBQ! Has some of the best slaw i have ever had. The sweet potato pie is the BEST in have ever had. Buffet inside, take out window, and drive through! Good service at all!

I was given moldy rolls from the back on a napkin. Me and my grandmother accidentally ate one because the mold was hidden on the bottom. The meal should have been fully compensated because of the mold and it being consumed. They initially offered 10% off then after push back gave 50%. Won’t be back

This was our first visit to gardeners buffet and we enjoyed it very much. They had great selections on the buffet , which during the week is $12.99 for lunch and its well worth the money. I saw salad bars, they have a dessert bar ( delicious banana pudding), they had Pinto beans with smoked sausage, fried apples, collard greens, fried shrimp, baked barbecue chicken leg quarters which was awesome, fried chicken, pork barbecue, baked tilapia, boiled potatoes, Green Beans, i can’t even remember everything , but there’s no way you should walk out of there being still hungry. Your employees were also friendly and professional. And just fun to be around. I highly recommend the gardener’s barbecue on Weslyean St.

Service was very friendly and prompt, atmosphere was fine. Pork sandwich was very bad. Not tasty just chopped dry. So the bread was stale. Everybody was doing the buffet, and I guess that’s why.

Went today after about a year and this will be my last visit. I have been a customer for 45 years and it is hard to see. I grew up here and my family knew Mr. Gardner personally. Mr. Gardner knew since I was born and I personally feel he would be disappointed at the turn this family favoritehas become. Customer favorites have been taken off the buffet and made as separate purchase, the recipes have changed and they have gone to cheaper quality ingredients and believe me true lovers of Gardners can tell. The items available, poor food quality, and prices higher than their competition are very disappointing. This establishment use to be about, quality food and affordable for the customers; now it is just about profits. Very sad to say this is a heartfelt goodbye to one of my favorite splurge times.

We had a great experience! Had to wait about 10 minutes for our server, but she was continually busy and was very kind and attentive. I ordered the pastry dinner “chicken & dumplings”, cabbage and green beans. Husband got fried chicken and sides from the buffet. My food arrived just after he sat down from making his plate. Food was piping hot and favorably seasoned. Added a tiny bit of salt to the dumplings and pepper to everything (standard for me). I appreciated that no sugar was added to the entree or sides, as sometimes you will find with “home cooking” southern restaurants – and I’m a southern girl who loves home cooking! The hush puppies were also yummy (and not sweet). Gardiner’s was just a short drive (less than 5 miles from I-95) and well worth it! The dining area was functional, and not fancy, but clean and well kept. Bathrooms had the same high standards. We would definitely visit again and strongly recommend! If you’re looking for fancy or high-brow, this is not for you. If you want comfort food with tasty vegetables, this is your place!

Our server was completely engaging, and hospitable. She was such a hoot, she tickled us with her jokes, she made our dining experience more enjoyable! But @ first entry customer service @ the establishment wasn’t to our delight with waiting to be seated and at checkout! But we did see 1 of our favorite servers on the way out, she made up for the lack of service and respect for the younger ones whom we encountered @ checkout!

Ordered gizzards for my mom & there was fish mixed in with them. Called back & the manager Demetrius was hostile & caught an attitude, not wanting to take responsibility that is workers made a big mistake! Major health hazard when you’re allergic to fish!! It was ok for him to catch an attitude until I gave it back then it was me being rude. Had him on speakerphone for several others to hear the interaction. Thankfully my mom only ate one from the top & gave the rest to my sister bc they were too tough for her liking. The fish was at the bottom of the pile. A customer lost b/c of this hazard, bad service & lack of accountability.

I entered the door and no employee was visable. I surveyed the buffet bars to see if anything there looked appealing and only saw about 3v items which perked my interest. After looking over the bar I began to look for staff and eventually, a kitchen staff member came out to add food to the bar. I asked her what did I need to do in order to fix a carryout plate from the bar and she told me she could get me a plate and it was $11.99 /lb. I told her to keep the plate and I would get food elsewhere. As I headed to the exit door, she called out to me and told me that they had a carry out window on the side of the building that was cheaper if I wanted a plate.

I went to the carryout area and there were already 2 customers before me who hadn’t placed their order because there was no staff member present. Eventually, someone came out and began to take our orders. I was disappointed because the main item I desired was barbecued ribs. However, that was not an option on the plates listed. I got barbecue, baked chicken, collards and baked beans. Once I tasted it, I threw the collards and barbecue in the trash. They tasted terrible to me but I know everybody has their own favorite. I had passed a customer on my way inside who bragged and highly recommended the collards. Now while I ordered a combo with several items which tasted bad to me, the baked/grilled chicken was right on point! I got a half chicken and it tasted great!. I doubt I’ll ever return, but if I do, it will be for the baked/ grilled chicken.

This was a big disappointment because my experience was a lot more positive the last visit a few years ago.
