First time here from Cali and first customer for the Monday morning. Looks kind of empty but nevertheless, I gave it a shot. Walked in and was greeted right away. To my surprising I needed to order and pay for my food first before being seated. Never had that situation before. Hate to have a line behind me and decide what I want to eat especially if its your first time and have kids. Can’t imagine that situation. I rather have more time sitting down and look over the menu.
I ordered half baby back ribs dinner with smoked beans, cold patotao salad and a bottle of water. Food came out within a few minutes after I sit down. Ribs was very tender but a bit dry. But overall good. The price was a bit high for the plate of food. Service was ok. Overall was a good experience.

An amazing old southern BBQ place. It seems a little sketch but these are the best places. These people use recipes that they made them self, and actually care about their food. The family that owns it are incredible people. The mild sauce was absolutely amazing, the green beans were just absolutely perfect and tender. Would absolutely suggest it.

I’ve been wanting to go for the last 2 months and we made it there today. I was not disappointed! Outstanding BBQ, big portions and at a fair price. The folks here are very friendly, helpful and just good people. So glad we made it there today and looking forward to going back. The ribs I had were fantastic and the other 5 people enjoyed their meals as much as I did. Give these folks a try… you’ll be glad you did.

Great Food, Great Folks. I had the bbq chicken and it was delicious. Some of the best I have ever had!!! I had the house sauce and the Carolina style sauce, both real good. All the sides are from scratch. I had a side of the Brunswick stew and a side of the greens. Both were very tasty and well prepared. Give this place a try. Eat in or carry out.

It was dark and spooky when I walked in with no one at the front. When the gentleman came out, he then turned on the lights. I ordered combo ribs & chicken. The potato salad was different but edible. The Collard Greens were Amazing! The best I’ve had, however, the chicken was over cooked and dry. The ribs were okay but the sweet sauce was awful! I won’t be trying it again.

8/2/17 was my second time eating at Garden City Barbeque and I’m questioning if I will go back.. I don’t even know where to start. I will say that my first visit was pleasant and the food was good. So I figured I would bring my wife and kids because we love good barbecue. Well I was really disappointed in the service and the food. I ordered the Brunswick stew and it tasted like burned barbecue sauce, I had the greens and they tasted like someone poured enough sugar in them to make them sweet.. I also ordered a large dinner with two sides and a small order of ribs only and for all that meat I received two slices of bread, and was charged an extra 50 cents per slice… Thumbs down on this visit.

Growing up in South Carolina makes me very judgmental of bbq joints. That being said this was like goin home for me. Great food wonderful staff and had a nice visit with the owner on the porch. You’ve earned my business and I will be returning. My hat is off to you wonderful folks. Thanks for making me feel at home.

Come with a big appetite! Not just because they give a nice sized portion but because you absolutely MUST have a slice of the red velvet cake to finish. What a great meal served by wonderful people.

Didn’t got to ate there, I walked in with my mon for some bbq. But the place looks like it’s never been cleaned before. I was handed a pice of paper with the menu. We just lost the appetit. Maybe the cook is good, but if you care about cleanliness i don’t recommend it.
