Traveling through Gallup, was looking for a breakfast and stumbled upon this place, and boy are we glad we did! Family owned, quiet and delicious food! Ordered the breakfast burrito with green chili sauce, and I can say I have not had a dish, this delicious, this homemade, in years! And the prices, this is truly a down home, local, homemade family owned place, we will definitely be regulars, and plan to still in anytime we’re traveling through Gallup!

A complete bust…. better off going to Dennys up sell the hell out a small family..
3 plates charged us 75$ i think they thought we were not local..and scammed us thinking we’re tourists and not from 505…. im saying this because the men thats greeted us was looking at the waiter in a a way like “really thats a lot” SCAMMER I thought the salsa chips would be free… like usually.. never coming back and not recommended this place to eat at again

Might not look like much from the outside but the food was amazing! The staff was great and very friendly. Lots of options even some vegetarian. Chiliquillis we’re delicious. Best beans I’ve had in a long time.

We were passing through Gallop and because of all of the reviews we were planning on going to Jerry’s Cafe but it was closed on Sunday. Looking for alternatives I was reading reviews and saw the owners response to one. I knew immediately these were my kind of people and had to go and see for ourselves. Although we were looking forward to trying Jerry’s, we were fortunate to find this wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant, Garcia’s Sunset Grill.
The people were great, friendly and welcoming. The food was superb! The tamale and cheese enchilada were excellent, and my husband loved his green chili bean bowl. The tortillas were so good we ordered extra and devoured everything.
All in all, it felt like stopping and having a home cooked meal with the family. Highly recommend this restaurant anytime.

Coffee tasted excellent and hard boiled egg was well done, which I prefer.
Top food and service!
If I may, you just need to remodel your restrooms to make them look better.
But other than that, I enjoyed my time here.

As much as I’ve enjoyed this restaurant over the years. I don’t have it in me to pay $13 for a simple chile cheese omlette and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns are a toss-up with each meal. I’ve enjoyed it at times and have not finished it at other times.
The $17 chimichanga is tiny.
I was also charged an extra $1.50 for a takeout container, which cost pennies when bought in bulk.
A tip is instantly added to your check, which should be the discretion of the patron after services have been finished.
Edit: lol “Dramatics” are definitely not on my end. Im a very easy person to impress. I just got breakfast on my way out of town and wondered why I was charged 3 extra dollars for a container. So I figured I’d let others know.
As for the added tip, I’m talking about the note at the bottom of the online menu.
Using a giant tortilla doesn’t somehow negate the fact that it’s a small chimichanga. (Which I was comparing to another small business in Phoenix with a 17 dollar chimi not Allsups or what did you say? Sams Club?)
I love small businesses, I have no idea why you’re bringing up Dennys and Chili’s and Chipotle, two of which are over 2 hours away.
The hashbrowns are really my only issue. They’ve been a greasy miss for me the last couple of breakfasts.
I would also never order salsa to go or ranch. That’s seems like a rant for another customer. ♀️

WOWOW!!! This place is one of a kind !, we were stranded in New Mexico and came here by chance , this is a family owned restaurant. The food here is delicious . The most amazing welcoming service we had a wonderful experience it was like no other we ever had . MR Carlos and his Daughter were at our service sweet kind and very welcoming people we ate some delicious food they have great tamales and everything is fresh and homemade they are located near an enterprise car rental place and they open at 7 am they have moth authentic Mexican food and American food choices as well for others and children. It’s such a great restaurant very clean and cozy coffee here is really the best . Thank you Mr Carlos for having us

We arrived @1PM on a lazy Sunday afternoon with a 2PM closing time. The atmosphere was exactly as anticipated for an old Route 66 diner. Eclectic, almost-struggling, Catholic-rural with a sassy flair. The food was excellent and worth the short wait. If you’ve never tried it, don’t miss the “fry bread!”

Great place for breakfast or lunch. The menudo is spot on. Get it with the pig foot. Also pictured are the tamales, which were delicious. It has become a tradition to stop in here when passing through. My only regret is that I didn’t think to get more menudo to throw in the cooler for later. I hope to be back soon.
