Stopped by Ganesha on a Friday evening after a pleasant walk along East Street, Bedminster’s vibrant independent shopping district. While the area has changed a lot, Ganesha still perfectly reflects its diversity and urban spirit, delivering consistently excellent Indian cuisine.
This was my third visit, and both food and service remain reliably high-quality. The restaurant’s warm, modern design complements the experience beautifully. I had the lamb dum biryani, which was filling yet delicate, served with raita and an aubergine curry—honestly enough to share between two. Starters included poppadoms with elegantly presented sauces, and a mango lassi rounded off the meal perfectly.
For around £20, this is outstanding value for a high-quality Indian dining experience. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious food! I had the Alleppey Prawn, and it was the best I’ve ever had — full of flavour and mouth-watering. The staff were fantastic and very attentive, especially when it came to allergens. I’m gluten-free, and they were knowledgeable and made sure everything was safe for me to enjoy. Highly recommend Ganesha Bristol for an authentic and welcoming dining experience!

The food was INCREDIBLE, easily some of the best Indian food we’d ever eaten. I was uncertain on the idea of a lamb shank korma to start with (their speciality), but I could not be happier that I decided to order it – it was completely unlike anything I’ve eaten before. The service was also great, the wait staff were knowledgeable and could help recommend dishes to suit each other well. We’ll definitely be back soon!

These guys have transformed the place! Totally refurbished with new booths and a total refresh of decor. The menu has lots of choice…but not too much! Small plates for sharing, some delicious chefs specials and all the favourites. My friend and I came and had a lovely evening but they need to spread the word that there are new owners and it’s had a full refresh! Give Ganesha a try if you are looking for a traditional, friendly Indian restaurant! I’m definitely going back with family 🙂

Early evening meal with old friends at Ganesha. It’s a place I used to frequent many years ago when dosas were the big draw on the menu. Ganesha is under new management and the menu now favours the Tandoor and is probably better overall. Very polite and attentive service, clear advice on the order, food came quickly and was bang on. I had the chilli chicken starter followed by a fragrant lamb curry called Gosht Nilgri, gorgeous. Sides were ghee rice and a naan. My cholesterol is probably off the scale but, wow, what lovely meal! I put three stars for atmosphere because we ate early and there was only one other small group in the place.

Came here for a birthday meal on bank holiday Monday and was very delighted with the food received. We all had starters and mains and all of which were very delicious, in particular the chilli chicken to start.
There was something to suit all spice levels so everyone was accommodated for and for the amount of food we had the price was very reasonable!
