This may be my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. Gandhi Mahal Restaurant—also known for delivery as Curry in a Hurry—serves delicious, flavorful, authentic food that always leaves an impression. Staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming, energizing, and peaceful. As a Bangladeshi American, the food here is my comfort food, and they do it well. Each dish I’ve tried is exceptionally flavorful and filling. From the samosas in the appetizer assortment to the chicken korma—and especially the biriyani, it is clear they put a high degree of care into all they do. I highly recommend the motor paneer (pea and cheese curry) to add some sweet and savoriness to your meal. Items can be ordered a la carte, which I really appreciate and is very convenient if you want to take things home. Leftovers are even more flavorful the next day. To finish things off, I recommend the mango lassi, which is perfectly tangy and sweet (not too sweet) the way they make it here. Overall, Gandhi Mahal has us obsessed and coming back for many reasons: delicious food, comfortable ambience, and dedication to quality. They are an invaluable fixture of the community and I hope be keep visiting in the years to come.

The food here is quite authentic to say the least. The combination of herbs and spices in their entrees make the food flavorful. The basmati rice is perfect for these type of dishes. The service was good and the time to receive our food was on point. I highly recommend for first timer to get the naan flat bread; dip it in the sauces from the entree to give the full experience of Indian and Bangladesh cuisine.

I’ve eaten at over a dozen Indian restaurants and this is the best my husband and I have visited. The service was good, the food was excellent, the live music made me want to dance and the vibe set a romantic tone. Overall, it was a perfect experience and I highly recommend trying this place!

Authentic and awesome! Currently no dine in.. and kind of sketch area.. but delicious.
1 star off because they dont label the dishes in your go bag and unless you’re super familiar, you dont know what is what.
But yum!

Ghandi Mahal was the first Indian restaurant I visited in Minneapolis & I just knew Curry in a Hurry would be just as good. The wait for my food was short and it smelled amazing on the ride home. I got the chicken tikka masala bowl and 12oz servings of vegetable curry and channa saag for later. There are no options to increase the spice level except for purchasing hot sauce. Unfortunately this was the blandest Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not sure if the “hurry” led to forgetting salt in the food, but I definitely had to add some along with my hot sauce. I’ve never tasted Indian food like this. Three stars for the fragrance, quickness and heartwarming letters posted about their response after the uprising summer 2020.

Super nice Indian food. Somewhat on the spicy side though. All in all a great experience – but I am sucker for good Indian food.

The food is absolutely fantastic – you’re going to be paying a touch more than a basic Indian restaurant, but holy moly, it’s soooo good! The only complaint I have is that the wait was incredibly long – my wife placed our order last night and was told to arrive in 20-25 minutes (we ordered to go). She got there 25 minutes later, and still had to wait another 30+ minutes. They also did not have an organized to go scheme, but I believe we ordered on day 2 of their new operation, so I bet in a week or two they will be operating much more smoothly.
All that said, you’ve gotta go here. I had dreams about their naan and tandoori chicken last night.

I LOVE Gandhi Mahal!!!! This is my go-to Indian place every time I am back in the Twin Cities. I believe they grow and use all their own spices.
Be warned… if you order “spicy” it’s not midwestern-spicy. It’s the real deal.
As a lot of my buddies are in the Seward/Longfellow area we will frequently order this as delivery or pick up for a night of table-top or computer gaming.

Food was okay – however – I have NEVER had service so poor. If you really enjoy mediocre Indian food, maybe the service is worth putting up with. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. The ‘cueball’ bald waiter is a real A-hole too
