What really made the experience, though, was the service. Evan ran the bar like a seasoned professional, attentive, confident, and on top of everything without missing a beat. Felicia made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The hospitality alone would bring me back.
I genuinely cannot think of a better way to kick off a Saturday. They have definitely earned themselves a new regular.
Let’s get to it. The sauce is the star. It’s made with Roma tomatoes and it’s fantastic. Great flavor, natural sweetness, a little tang, and perfectly seasoned. The consistency is what really impressed me, not watery, not sloppy, just clean and smooth. It sits right on top and ties everything together. Easily one of the best sauces I’ve had in Ohio.
The crust is thin New York-style with a crisp bite and a beautiful char. No flop. Holds strong. You get crunch on every bite and a nice chew on the finish. It’s cooked right and has real flavor, not just a delivery platform.
Everything tastes fresh. From the basil to the crust to that killer sauce, it all works. My only issue is the mozzarella. What’s there is quality, but there’s barely enough. It’s so thin you could read your Bible through it. Just give me more cheese and we’re talking about a serious contender.
Now here’s the part that might throw people off. The price. It’s a really good pizza, no question. But when you get the bill, you pause. That’s what I think is keeping people from going back as often. You start doing mental math like, “Was that slice really worth what I just paid?”
Final score: 8.0 out of 10. Great crust, incredible sauce, just needs more cheese and a little less sticker shock.
Who knew that ‘twixt great cities’ flour-flung fight,
New York’s thin edge, Chicago’s laden deep.
A hidden crown in modest Ohio might
Raise crusts that wake the dreaming taste from sleep?
No boast of steel, no skyline made it known,
But dough and flame in secret formed its claim;
Where humble streets in shadowed silence shone,
A kingdom rose, and Gallo was its name.
With every bite, the room begins to sing,
Strangers made kin by sauce and baked delight;
A smile, a nod, and laughter takes to wing,
All hail the pie that makes the world feel right.
