This was only our second time here. Not sure what was up Friday night, but there were quite a variety of service issues that put a damper on things (that I’m assuming are not normal). The food definitely made up for it. I’m giving it a 4.0 / 5.0 (only reason for not giving it a 5.0 was the service) and we will be back.
Best Italian food in Colorado… just go immediately! We have tried a number of things on the menu and each bite absolutely delicious. Like mouth watering between bites….can’t hold in the vocal mmmmmmms while chewing. Eyes closing to take it in a little more kind of good.
The atmosphere and staff are perfection. Family feel in all the ways. The bread service is a must! Go Hungry! If you are a lover of the sweet baked yummy things life has….Get here faster! Like nibble on for days sort of yummy!
We’ve had the fried ravioli, lasagna, the branzino, carbonara and fettuccine Alfredo, chicken parm, chicken picata….oooooo so good. Look at the picks..get ready!
Everything is Absolutely perfect!
The staff is sooo friendly! They even made me a chocolate martini….that wasn’t on the menu! Everything about this place is a win!
We started the menu with arancini appetizer. Crispy panko crust, creamy risotto inside and packed with house-made Bolognese and mozzarella. Dipped in their marinara, every bite was rich and satisfying.
For the main course, she got the clam linguine in a white wine garlic sauce. The clams were fresh and plentiful, the sauce was balanced and not overpowering and the linguine was cooked perfectly.
I ordered the chicken bruschetta, which was light yet flavorful. The grilled chicken was juicy and topped with fresh bruschetta tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, shaved parmesan and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. It came together beautifully and didn’t feel heavy at all.
Overall, great food, attentive service and a neighborhood restaurant on Broadway.
FOOD: Gallo has a complete menu of every Italian restaurant staple you can make, and its feel of authenticity is enhanced by the wide variety of pasta and baked goods in a shop up front (which you can add to your check to have for dessert).
The garlic knots are mandatory to order; I would go there for just a meal of them. My wife subbed in gnocchi for pasta in a vodka sauce, both of which were quite good. I had a lasagna Bolognese which was tasty, but a bit heavy on the bechemel and a little too overall soft (lasagna shouldn’t squish).
We had a couple of desserts from the bakery, and they were decadently spectacular.
Cocktails were also quite good.
SERVICE: This place felt like, if you showed up twice, they’d welcome you into the family, ask about your kids, come over and visit, etc. This made things friendly (even with strangers), but made the service only good, not great.
AMBIANCE: The place looks to have been redecorated recently, and is stylish and comfortable. Almost too stylish — the “supper club” / “mia famiglia” image just didn’t quite work with the high-end decor.
TIP: The place is in downtown Englewood on Broadway — but has a great public parking lot behind.
NET-NET: a darned good place — but not enough for the distance we’d usually need travel to it, compared to darned good Italian places we have closer to home. I would never turn down an invitation from friends to join them there, but it wouldn’t be my first choice to go to.
Thanks Greg for the great service.
The pastries are amazing too!
We came from far away and arrived late. All the neighboring restaurants were full, and this place also had a wait, but they kindly let us in and the wait time was much shorter than expected—thanks to the incredibly hard-working staff. The restaurant has a high-end feel, so we didn’t expect it to be kid-friendly, but it absolutely is. The lady at the front even mentioned she’s a mom, and you can truly feel that warmth and care in how welcoming and attentive the environment is.
What really made me want to leave this review was their kindness when I mentioned I had a minor family emergency and needed to leave quickly while my kids were already very hungry and restless. They rushed out the kids’ meals and appetizers and beautifully packed the rest of our food, even though the restaurant was busy.
I’m not sure if the lady at the front was the owner or manager, but I truly appreciate her care. Our server was also wonderful—fast, attentive, and very understanding.
I would give 10 stars if I could. The carbonara and bolognese were still absolutely delicious even after we took them home. My kids loved their kids’ meals, and the pastries looked amazing too!
