I had the salmon with beans and a side. Delicious!
It was busy, but there is more seating than it looks. Quite cool, so take a cardigan.
Everything seemed clean. Service was efficient and friendly (despite being very busy). Seats not especially comfortable. Some tables quite small.

This place is a must. I’ve been here a few times and I absolutely love the food. If you aren’t a seafood fan like I am, the Cajun Penne Pasta is amazing. My mom and boyfriend loved their oysters. My boyfriend smashed their alligator bites po boy and even took some alligator bites home he loved them so much.

A Must-Taste in New Orleans!
This spot is a true gem in the heart of New Orleans! Every bite was simply delicious from the fresh oysters to the beautifully curated charcuterie boxes, bursting with vibrant fruits, cheeses, and savory meats. The presentation alone is a feast for the eyes, but the flavors? Next-level. You can taste the love and local flair in every detail. Whether you’re brunching, snacking, or celebrating, this place delivers gourmet magic with Southern soul. Highly recommend!

Came to New Orleans for a business trip and was recommended to visit Gallier’s and we were not disappointed! Simple, casual sit down atmosphere but we were seated right away and a waiter came quickly. Food was tasty – while the salmon was slightly overcooked it was tasty, particular with the sauce. Veggies were seasoned well and complemented the fish. The salad was a good size and I appreciated that it was brought as an appetizer. The po boy was tasty per my colleague and a good size. Would return and recommend if you are looking for a moderately priced (~$20-30) entrees with a simple yet casual atmosphere off canal street.

Came here for dinner. We walked in and it was a casual place and relaxed ambiance. Our server Jelly was sweet and friendly. I was craving oysters and ordered a dozen of the Rockefeller oysters. We also ordered the grilled shrimp platter. Both dishes were Delicious and great size portions. When we were leaving we got thanked by the staff. I highly recommend coming here for seafood and an overall great experience.

Gallier’s Seafood & Oyster Bar: Where the Gulf Winks at You Over a Bread Pudding

If you’re wandering Carondelet Street wondering whether New Orleans still knows how to flirt with your taste buds, Gallier’s Seafood & Oyster Bar is your answer, and it’s not subtle. This place doesn’t whisper “Cajun charm”; it shouts it from a soft-shell crab Poboy while jazz plays in the background and your server, Jam, makes you feel like royalty with a side of sass.

Let’s start with the Gallier’s Oyster Special, a dozen Gulf gems so fresh they probably had brunch plans before landing on our plate. Chargrilled, Rockefeller, raw and Creole, each one was a briny sonnet. I briefly considered writing a thank-you note to the ocean.

Then came the Soft Shell Crab Poboy, which arrived like a crustacean superhero in a French loaf cape. Crispy, golden, and unapologetically messy, it was the kind of sandwich that makes you question your life choices, in a good way. The remoulade had enough kick to start a second line.

The Seafood Penne was a creamy fever dream of Gulf shrimp and crawfish tangled in pasta like they were rehearsing for a Mardi Gras float. Cajun Alfredo sauce clung to every noodle like it knew it was the star of the show. I would’ve licked the bowl, but Jam had already brought extra bread like the intuitive legend she is.

And then, bread pudding. Not just dessert. A spiritual experience. Warm, custardy, and doused in a bourbon sauce that could probably negotiate peace treaties. It was the kind of finale that makes you want to stand up and applaud. I didn’t, but I did make eye contact with Jam and whisper “respect.”

We returned the next day, because of course we did. This time, Kenneth took the reins, equal parts gracious host and flavor whisperer. He offered spot-on suggestions, served up charm with every plate, and even gifted us a recipe for a Fanta-based drink that tasted like summer in a glass. If Jam was the stylish aunt, Kenneth was the cool cousin who knows all the secret menu hacks.

Final Verdict:
Gallier’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a civic celebration in edible form. Five stars for the food, the flair, and especially for Jam and Kenneth, who deserve their own float in the next parade. If you’re in New Orleans and not eating here, you’re missing out on a love letter written in oysters, bourbon sauce, and a splash of Fanta.

Located close to my hotel so decided to give it a try, I’m so glad that I did, everything was great! The service, the food and the prices were good. Some of the best oysters hands down! I had the fish sandwich but changed the fish to salmon and it was amazing! The spicy mayo was a great addition. The grilled shrimp was seasoned to perfection, the home made Caesar dressing was also great. Highly recommend

Absolutely loved this place. The oysters… oh my god, the oysters. Fresh, plump, perfectly prepared, and honestly unforgettable.

I sat at the bar and had the blue lemonade, which was refreshing and delicious. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and full of character.

The bartenders were the perfect example of Southern hospitality: warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. They made the experience even better.

Great vibe, amazing oysters, excellent drinks, and wonderful people. A must-stop in New Orleans.

I went there because of the happy hour! And surprisingly it was really nice! The oysters are really delicious and fresh!
The shucker is also good kuz I feel he doesn’t make oysters dirty like most of stores do.
And the staff there are friendly!
I also tried the Gumbo, it’s good as well.
Highly recommend
