This is the first true Irish restaurant we tried in Dublin and we still cannot believe how good the food, service and atmosphere was. The restaurant is really cozy and the staff is so kind and welcoming. We got the Sheppard’s Pie, Chicken Boxty and Salmon dish and we were pleasantly surprised. 10/10 recommend

It was our first trip together in Dublin and we wanted some breakfast to start our weekend. We spotted Gallagher’s Boxty House and my partner realised he had been here before on a previous trip!
We were greeted with a warm welcome and David who looked after us certainly did! David was very welcoming and provided excellent service.
The food was amazing, we both had Irish breakfasts, a coffee and two mimosas.
Thank you so much for starting our long weekend off so brilliantly! We would highly recommend.

Amazing good and environment. The cauliflower appetizer was awesome. Everyone says their Dublin coddle is the best. This one warms my belly and heart. Drinks are yummy and dessert is outstanding. Will be going to back to try the rest of the menu

We went here for Christmas brunch. As we walked in we were greeted by very friendly happy staff and a glass of champagne. Promptly taken to our table and given our brunch menus. Our waitress was so wonderful! Our food was delicious! Since it was Christmas brunch they had a small selection to choose from. Keeping it simple to make a decision on what delicious plates to get.
THANK YOU TO THE ENTIRE STAFF for working on Christmas. We appreciate all of you taking time out of your holiday morning to take care of all of us who came in that day.

My wife found this place with great reviews so went there and a had a 3 course meal with my wife and daughters. There was a slight delay in being seated even though we had a booking but it was well worth the wait. We shared 3 starters, the calamari, the chowder and the cauliflower bites. They came out pretty quickly and all cooked fantastically well with fresh ingredients,it was the first time one of my daughters had tried the chowder and she was blown away. The mains had a delay which our waiter apologised to us for, my wife and youngest both had the lamb boxty, I had the coddle with my eldest having fish and chips. Both the fish and the coddle were excellent, the lamb boxty was very nice but it was unclear that this was a curry. We finished with sticky toffee pudding, bread pudding and the girls having the brownies. The brownies were a decent portion but were a little dry, the other 2 puddings were excellent. We also had a cocktail each.

All in all I highly recommend this place, it is a little pricey but the food is incredibly good. Very busy with a really pleasant buzzy atmosphere. We were also provided a shot each due to the delay with our mains, I have marked service to 4 stars due to the delay even with the compensation, I’m sure this was just a one off though.

Found Gallagher’s Boxty House on a whim via a gluten free app. From the second we sat down, the service was incredible! Our server, Mike, explained how everything (but the stews) on the menu could be made gluten free and described how seriously they took making Gallagher’s a safe and comfortable space for gluten free folk to dine. We were there for dinner and drinks. The food was SO GOOD I’ll be dreaming about it until I get the chance to return someday. The chicken boxty had such great flavor and the drinks were made to perfection. Mike was so helpful in deciding what we wanted to eat and drink. He even brought us a complimentary dessert (Bailey’s cheesecake also GF!) that was absolutely worth the hype. 10/10 experience 10/10 recommend 🙂

Amazing food! I have to eat gluten free and it was lovely to be able to eat almost everything! I got the spice bag without the curry sauce due to it having barley in it. Otherwise, basically just couldn’t have the stews due to them having beers in them. Would go back for sure!

Apparently one of the few shops in Dublin that serves Boxty, a type of potato pancake. Prices are definitely rather pricey. But there is a set that you can take for 36 euros that comes with a beer.

The beef was pretty standard, it was Irish beef, i believe. The pancake itself was, interesting, slightly chewier than the normal flour pancakes. The sauce was delicious though.

Do give it a try! It is a traditional Irish food!

As a party of 8 we booked a table for Friday evening at Boxty House following a recommendation from a family friend and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the service we received from Mike was out of this world! Mike was so friendly and suggested some great places to visit whilst we were in Dublin. He also had family from Bristol so we had something in common to talk about.
Would highly recommend visiting and trying a Boxty or the Spice Bag. And for the Baileys lovers the cheesecake is to die for!

This place is often mentioned in travel guides as one of the few spots where you can try traditional Irish boxty, so while in Dublin we simply had to give it a go. We started with the boxty sharing plates — the boxty bread was tasty, while the dumplings and fries were interesting to try but not really to my taste. For my main course I had the chicken boxty, which I really enjoyed. My husband tried the traditional Irish corned beef, but it wasn’t quite to his liking, and our son went for the classic fish and chips.

The atmosphere is lively and quite noisy, with plenty of people — clearly a very popular spot among tourists. We went on a Saturday at lunchtime and booked a table just about an hour in advance. That was enough to get seated, but we noticed that people without reservations were standing in line outside waiting to get in. Prices felt rather high considering the portion sizes, though that might be expected in the well-known Temple Bar district and given the restaurant’s reputation for serving traditional Irish cuisine.

Overall, it’s definitely worth trying, especially if you’re curious about boxty. The place is popular, so I’d recommend reserving a table if you don’t want to queue. I personally love potatoes in every form, so this was a dish I could happily appreciate!
