I went to dinner last night with a few friends at Gaetanos. I ordered shrimp scampi served on rice. It wasn’t on the menu, but they said they could make it for me. It came with a very small salad. No side dishes. Just a bowl of rice with about 5 medium shrimp. I was shocked when I receive my bill and they had charged me $31.99 for this meal. It was priced higher than almost any dish on the menu and there was nothing to it. I have no problem paying whatever the cost for a good meal But this was a ridiciuos price for what I was served. I have been to this restaurant before and been happy with the food. No this time. Not at all. The service was good as was the atmosphere. But I will think twice before going there again.

This is our go to place! Can’t beat this cozy place in the center of Wallingford! I personally had the tequila chicken three times and it’s so very good and consistent. French onion soup is great! Chefs and all the employees there are fantastic! They have live music at times! Our duo (Dave & Renee) plays there on Friday Jan 30th 2026 at 7pm. Make those plans and come check out this awesome Gaetano family run business.

Wonderful spot with delicious cuisine and amazing staff! Our waitress Jill was the best – knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive. The drinks were incredible – especially the espresso martini! It was an amazing, memorable Valentines Day experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Ordered lunch via door dash, nachos were HUGE and very tasty. I’m not sure if it was an off day or that it was a door dash order but the french onion soup was not very flavorful. It could have used some wine, sherry or worcheshire to give it more of that bold rich flavor. Solid 4, will go again!.

Usually hit the restaurant for dinner, but the other night a group of friends met and decided to grab a bunch of appetizers instead. We tried some nacho’s, the spicy sausage, artichoke and spinach dip, sicilian calamari, oh and of course wings. Everyone shared, all were delicious. The center of Wallingford has some great food choices. My favorite wasn’t opening for another hour so we chose Gaetano’s Tavern on Main, after looking at a couple of posted menus in windows. Outdoor seating all neighbors each other on the street in this restaurant row, so we chose a sidewalk table by the door. I had to go inside to ask for service but they were happy to accommodate us and gave attentive service throughout.
The chicken lemongrass dumplings, which was one item that brought us to the door, were really well done. Special menu drinks from the bar were as described on the menu and flavorful. We switched to wine for our meals. My soft shell crab sandwich was innovative. Fried like most seafood shellfish, it was crunchy and a good size served on white toast with lettuce and tomato. I ate half of it on the bread and then finished the crab with a fork. Fries accompanied the dish.
The steak sandwich on focaccia bread with gorgonzola and spinach had a great presentation, but my partner thought the meat was too rare. He likes medium well to well-done meat. I prefer rare to medium rare, but in some instances as with a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, I only expect meat with no pink. Still, a fine choice and large enough to bring half home.
Large interior with tables and bar seating, unique menu with an interesting variety of items and right in the middle of town makes Gaetano’s a place to go.

A regular for us.. great food at very fair prices. Love eating outside there. Try the pork chop picante if you like a bit of heat… not overwhelming but delish. (See pic) The staff there has always been pleasant to Us been pleasant too. Oh and one other thing.. unlike alot of other restaurants these days…the prices are reasonable and portions very good!

It was a hot day out, but their outdoor seating was in the shade so it was fine to eat outside.
Everyone from the hostess to the servers were very friendly and even offered to suggest some of their favorite foods.
Our server had water at the table before we could even ask, which was nice since it was blisteringly hot outside.
The food came out quickly with no issues, and was good. No complaints there at all.
