Our family moved here from the Italian Island of Ponza, bringing with us traditional family values and the highest standards. Come join us and enjoy the flavors of home we bring to you. We have been serving the San Diego County area for over four decades and have been located at the current location for over 20 years. For those of you who have never joined us for a meal, we hope you stop by. For those of you who sit down with us regularly, we thank you and we hope to see you again soon.

This place has been here for a long time.
It’s nostalgic and cozy in a part of the city limits between el cajon and lakeside.
The food was very good. I am coming back with my family for sure.
Almost everything is made in-house, and it’s delicious.
Clean.
Restrooms.
Plenty of parking.
Good if you’re by yourself, it’s better if you’re 2 for sharing and tasting.
Great for small parties.

This is sad. Me and my wife has been going here since 1997. The food and service use to be great. This last visit was absolutely horrible. The waitress was just plain awful. We were ignored big time. We were given our drinks, and we sat there for over 15 minutes to order our food. Our drinks ran dry and no one came to refill them. The waitress finally showed up and took our order. We asked for a refill and she didn’t come back. Finally I asked another waitress can we have a refill? She had to tell the waitress we needed them. Finally she came back. Then when we got our food , she brought mine and our friends dinner and not my wife’s. My wife had a salad and should have been served before us. So she asked where her salad was, and got an oh ya, and ran and brought it back. She ordered a chicken Caesar salad , and it only has 3 very small pieces of chicken and an enormous amount of croutons more than you would even want. My wife told another waitress about the salad being the worst salad she has ever had. We got an apology and still had to pay full price for a crappy , basically no chicken salad . This will be the last time we ever step foot in this place again. Momma Rosa down the street gives 3 times the chicken and bigger quantities for the same price as this place. Even the pizza you get a lot more for the same price as this place. And way, way better service with hardly any wait. And, if something wasn’t quite right with the food, they would at least discounted the meal, and actually didn’t charge us for it. Sorry, Momma Rosa will be our place to go.

Ordered the medium baron pizza and small cheese. They’re very generous with the portion toppings. However there’s no flavor to sauce and not much of it. The cheese was very disappointing no flavor thin crust lil cheese. Baron pizza portions was generous. but no flavor and the crust was thin, not thick around the outside of it! Also pizza looks nothing like it does in the pictures on their web page. Crust much thinner and lil sauce no flavor. Definitely not worth what they charge for it!! Diff not a do over!

We have been hearing about this place for years and we were really excited to go. The first thing you notice when you enter the door is a tank full of fresh lobsters in which you can pick out for your dish. There is an outdoor patio which is dog friendly so we brought our pup with us. Maybe that is the reason the service was so bad. The lady did not introduce herself (not a big deal), but when I asked if I could modify a pasta, she replied “if you want to”. She never checked on us to see how everything was. Never offered to refill our soda and when we asked, we were informed that they do not offer refills but you need to pay again. Now for the food. We ordered a large pepperoni, jalapeño, and bacon pizza, creamy tortellini with added mushrooms, and fettuccine Alfredo. The pastas dishes were large and full of creamy, buttery, and cheesy flavor, but the pizza was not good at all. Extremely thin crust sitting in a pool of grease which made the bread soggy. As we were finishing, the waitress came out and asked “anything else” which we replied just some boxes please. She came out with the boxes and dropped the check and came back out 2 mins later as we were still boxing up our pasta (we didn’t even look at the bill yet to pay). We found it awfully rude to rush to get the money, but you didn’t even care to check on us the entire time when there were literally 3 other tables dining inside. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

Every year when I visit my sister in El Cajon and attend the Veterans In Business Conference, I make sure to stop at Gaetano’s—and it never disappoints. The pizza is always delicious, the kind you look forward to all year long. Great flavors, great service, and a place that just feels welcoming. It’s become a tradition for me, and I can’t wait for next year’s visit!

I have to say that I was not impressed with this place, it’s service, or food. The food was mediocre. I had the Lobster ravioli. Which was nothing special. The veggie soup was very flavorful. The antipasto salad was not good at all. The meat tasted a little funky. The service was not very good. There was only one cook and one waitress. I heard someone complain about how long things were taking. The waitress was servicing about four different tables at the time. Three had four people at each, the other had one person. From the time we received our drinks it took about 15 -20 minutes for her to come back to our table to take our food order. I will not visit this place again. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.

My family and I visited here last night, and we were beyond impressed! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome; every single person was genuinely friendly. The atmosphere was perfect for a cozy Italian dinner, with warm lighting and soft live guitar music in the background that made the evening extra special.
And the food… absolutely outstanding! From the appetizers to the entrées, every dish was cooked perfectly, full of authentic flavor, and came in generous portions. Our group of 11 all ordered something different, and not one person was disappointed — that says a lot! (Be sure to save room for dessert, because the cannolis here are amazing!)
This is a fantastic spot for families, groups, or anyone craving authentic Italian food in a welcoming setting. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
