The food was stellar. The service was lackadaisical, I think is the best word. It was a leisurely afternoon for us, so not a huge deal, but we waited a very long time to have our order taken for drinks.
The server attempted to walk away immediately after we ordered our drinks. They didn’t ask us if we wanted to order an appetizer, even though we had already chosen both an appetizer and our entrees. I had to stop the server as they turned away and say “Hey, can we order our appetizer too?”
It took a fair amount of time to get our drinks, but it looked like the bartender was also functioning as a server on the floor, so that was understandable.
It also took a very long time for our food order to get taken, in fact, a table that came in after us had their food order taken about 15 minutes before we had ours taken.
When it was time to check out, my wife was irritated enough with the amount of times that we’ve been left waiting that she went outside to have a cigarette because we figured it’d be another 15-20 minutes before anybody came with the bill.
Server was friendly, the atmosphere was great, it just was very underwhelming.
We were also a little puzzled about why we needed to make a reservation online but there was plenty of open seating.
Also, there was supposed to be edible glitter in one of my drinks, the mermaid one, but there was no edible glitter. That was very sad; I wanted to be glittery on the inside as well!

Had some yummy food and drinks while watching the NWSL quarterfinals this weekend Saturday morning. Really attentive service! Nice brunch menu. Friendly employees and thank you for creating a place that supports women’s sports ❤️

The food is great but service is terrible. We ordered appetizers that came out 25 minutes after we ordered right before the main steaks came out. Once we were done eating they cleared the plates and we had to wait 20 minutes before we actually went to ask for a check because the little short black girl never brought a check. The food is good but I would not suggest eating there, order delivery, because the service is terrible and over priced. $18 for 20 minute old nachos is a bit much.

Top notch quality food with friendly service. After deciding to go with some wings for the night I added some Mac and cheese w/ brussel sprouts. The wings were just good quality wings with the Mac and cheese being excellent with nice pieces of bacon floating throughout being held together with a tasty homemade cheese sauce. The brussel sprouts were prepared nicely as well and really tasted great. The bartender went and got my food promptly and was friendly with everything looking clean.

Everything about it was great. From the vibe to the bingo to the bartender to the drinks to the pizza to the food everything five stars.

Menu prices are insane. Guac is $17 and clearly scooped from a tub, 4 small tenders are $18, $22 salads, etc. Drink specials are advertised but never once had them reflected on the check so end up paying full price anyway. Lights are way too harsh and walls are just millennial gray with some mass produced prints on them. A shame because the neighborhood could use a no-frills weekday bar, but you’re better off with cheaper food and better service/atmosphere at like Brooksider.

A friend and I stopped by here because we were curious and wanted to support new businesses on Troost. What a great find! We fell in love with the place and are quickly becoming regulars. The menu is filled with all kinds of dishes that sound great. I see plates coming out to different tables that look delicious! The prices are great, especially for the amount of food you get. The other element I love about this place is the friendly, family like atmosphere. Every person working the front of the restaurant made a point to stop by and say hello. I’m looking forward to many great meals to come.

Expect to spend a lot of money but also expect the food and drink to taste good. It’s a bar vibe, sports playing on TV, and average LGBTQ folks having a good time. The atmosphere doesnt match the price of everything. Everything is a minimum of $20 each. Even drinks get close to $20 each. Just expect to spend a lot inside a sort of hole in the wall on Troost.

Went to Gaels on St Pats with our sweet 93 year old grandma. We were planning on going somewhere like Browns but it was packed. Grandma is full Irish… and new finding a fun place would bring her joy. I was looking for a place that took reservation’s when I came across Gaels. I had never been to Gaels or heard of it but it seemed fun from the pictures.
Grandma was so excited to see people and loved the fun. It wasn’t until we sat down and looked around that we realized the clientele were quite a bit more flashy and friendlier than we expected but then again it was St Pats! BTW, I wish everyone was flashy and friendly like you guys!)
Everyone was so kind to her and she made some friends.
Really love this bar. Thanks so much for welcoming even those of 93 years.

Gaels Public House, located off of Troost Ave, is a popular bar & grill in the Kansas City area. This spot is particularly popular during their scheduled events and specifically happy hour. Gaels Public House has daily specials such as $9 Burger Mondays, All Day Happy Hour on Wednesdays, and $10 Specialty Pizza Thursdays. You can even check their events page online to see the scheduled trivia nights, karaoke nights, and Sunday brunch drag shows. There are some tables inside with a few of the stage, along with bar stools and several tables outside on the cozy patio. Two of my favorite items to order for table off of the menu are the poutine fries and the nachos. Gaels also serves tasty pizza, stacked burgers, fresh salads, crispy chicken tenders, mouthwatering tacos, and more! If you are looking for a brunch and drag show day, this is the place to visit! Add Gaels Public House to your KC Bucket List today!
