I’ve reviewed before but I’m able to do a second review for a change so adding this one
See photo captions for other reviews…spoiler alert, skip brunch
This time I had the Birria Quesadilla. I sat at the bar, service is always good with the bartenders.
Overall I thought it was very good! My complaint was that it was so thick that the tortilla doesn’t get crunchy (and perhaps it was a little mushy because the pico de gallo adds too much moisture?) and because it’s so thick the cheese wasn’t fully melted. So it could’ve been cooked a little longer. It was very good though, definitely one of my favorites here (along with the turkey club which is the best I’ve had so far anywhere)
Adding my brunch review…honestly it wasn’t good. Potatoes were salty. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and he said it didn’t taste good at all. I know a lot of people rave about breakfast but we probably won’t be back for breakfast

By far the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Service was friendly and quick on the draw. The menu had a good amount of variety so I’ll definitely be back to try some more of their stuff!

We came here for some fish fry but were pleasantly surprised that they offer fried pickles and Reuben specials (pierogi or sandwich), so ended up ordering those instead. It’s great to have fried pickles out of the Fair — different, but I actually prefer this one which is cut thinner.
The cheese pierogis were loaded with corned beef. Also had the “asian ribs” and the mashed potatoes and both were a hit.
Great beer selection & fair prices. We’ll be back for fish fry 🙂

I had one of the best burgers I’ve ever had here. The cheese curd burger and chocolate chip cookie were both super good. Nothing we ordered was bad. Service was good. Place is kinda dive bar-ish, but cozy. Looks like fun place for trivia or watching sports games Only thing negative here was outside of staff’s control; we saw a clearly drunk man in the parking lot about to get into his car to drive. We will definitely be back.

Just hosted a birthday party for my husband in the private dining room/bar area. The space was perfect for our needs and super affordable. Emily was amazing to coordinate planning with. She always was quick to respond to me and helped me fit everything into my budget. Carlos knocked it out of the park. Not only did he bartend, he made sure we had everything we needed as we were setting up, put up with all our rowdy friends, boxed left over food, and even offered to help bring it out to my car. Laura made sure she was available to help with anything as well that night.
Gabes always has great service and food, but our loyalty and appreciation has grown from this unforgettable experience. THANKS SO MUCH!

I’m not one to post reviews or complain, but when I was having a tuna poke (tasty) for dinner I found a piece of glass in my mouth!!! I couldn’t continue eating anymore. I warned them, I told the restaurant and they apologized to me and they didn’t charge me for that dish. Lack of control in the kitchen, I don’t want to think about everything that each dish can carry and we don’t know it

We’ve had 2 pregames here and had excellent food and service both times. Their fried pickle chips are awesome, wings great even sauceless (got dipping sauces on side), walleye fries were great, the only thing we were so so on were the nachos. Fake cheese was blah but otherwise all good! Service excellent, drinks cold.

Went last minute, sat outside n it was perfect. THE BEST cheese curds I’ve ever had, nachos were ok, my kid loved her burger and tots and the bloody was on point! Going back for their mini doughnuts, fried pickles and bread pudding.

Gabe’s is exactly what you want in a neighborhood spot: welcoming, unpretentious, and full of character. They don’t try to be upscale, and that’s a big part of their charm. It feels like a place that belongs to the community, not just the corner it sits on. They make room for neighborhood groups, support local organizations, and have repeatedly pitched in to help local schools. They’re good neighbors in every sense.
They hosted our son’s graduation party, and wow, they know how to gussy up when it counts. We had nearly 200 people cycle through (and definitely undershot our estimate), but the owner, GM, chef, and service staff were on it every step of the way. They improvised, kept everything moving, set our minds at ease, and the party didn’t miss a beat.
We’re grateful for the care they put into our family’s celebration. Gabe’s is a gem for bringing people together, whether it’s a casual night out or a big event done right.
Highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a place with heart, personality, and serious party chops.
