I’ve been getting pizza from GJ’s every once in a while for several years now, and unfortunately had the misfortune of bringing a pizza home today and finding at least 3 flies in it. Definitely brings into question how the food is prepared and things that are done to it that you might not even be able to see. Sent some photos of it to the person who said that they were the manager (Christian) and he offered to refund me, but he said it would require me to drive all the way back out to reverse the payment on my card. Unfortunately it’s not worth the gas and time for me to do so. Never ordering from there again.

Visited this store a few days ago.

The food was fine nothing special, but no complaints.

What concerned me more was the staff conversation I overheard. They were openly discussing the owner/manager’s personal life, including a breakup and how he’s been acting since. They also mentioned that since he’s been around more, they “need to be careful.”

I found this deeply unprofessional and inappropriate to happen in front of customers. I’m not sure if this was a one-time thing or a pattern, but I wanted to share so management can address it. I’m happy to provide more details if needed.

G J’s is the best Party Store in town! They have a great selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Great pizza, cracker crust, and round pies, delicious subs (my favorite is the Hondo Hot), deli case, and snacks, tons of basic needs stuff too. I’ve been going there for over 40 years!

This pizza was okay. Wasn’t what I was hoping for. Service was good, and a one stop spot for drinks and pizza but think they could improve on their pie crust.

I think the picture explains everything that needs to be said. Haven’t been here in a long time only been here once before but the food was pretty okay so I came back. Appearntly all sanitary practice went out the window as I found a in my food. Instantly brought it to the employee’s attention and asked to speak to the owner about what the hell is going on in the kitchen. Employee said “owner isn’t here and we don’t know when he will be here. The manger takes care of most customer complaints”. Asked when he’d be back and was told “the owner’s schedule is unpredictable”.

I beg your pardon what kind of managment lets the safety and hygiene standards be non existent? If what the employee is saying is true about the owner than a lot of safety inspections need to be done, cause this is neglect both to your store and your customers.

I don’t remember there being any problems with the kitchen or owner last time I came here unless something changed.

Pizza is average which is sayin it’s bad because it was top notch in days past. Haven’t been here for a year, or two, but after the new owner bought it I thought it was close. to Gary and John’s. Being in Food Service all my life I will swear that the crust is a Commercial par-baked product. Why not just buy my pizza out of a grocers freezer then? Sauce and cheese didn’t meet the crust edge in a number of spots and the worst thing is their pizza sits in the box on a sheet of aluminum foil, and I have a tiny piece of aluminum that I can taste in my back tooth. My wife picked up the pizza and was uncomfortable waiting in the store for it. I hope this was just a one off night. besides buying commercial prepared dough.

My sons grew up on GJ’s pizza and was a “must have” for my eldest son whenever he was visiting. I don’t know what happened to it but the dough was rolled so thin that the pizza sauce was coming through the bottom. I gave it two stars because the ‘GJ’s’ flavor was there but where did the crust go? Didn’t finish eating. It was just plain messy. What a disappointment.

today was my second time stopping here( when I’mworkingin the area ), both times I bought 2 slices of pizza, I’m not a thin crust person, but it was okay, much better than frozen pizza which you’ll find at some gas stations

I grew up in this town, and GJ’s used to be one of those places that actually meant something. The pizza was great, the service was fast, and it had a reputation you could count on. But after hearing from some old friends that things had taken a nosedive under the new owner, I decided to see for myself while I was back in town.

Honestly, I wish I hadn’t.

I stopped by a couple weeks ago, and the experience was a mess from the start. It took nearly 40 minutes to get a single pizza and a drink—only for the order to be wrong. When I asked the staff if there was a manager or owner I could speak to, one of them just shrugged and said the owner “doesn’t really come around anymore” and “he’s not in a great mood when he does.” Not exactly reassuring.

Still, I figured maybe it was a one-off bad day, so I came back one more time before leaving town—during Cherry Fest, no less. You’d think with a busy crowd, management would be present. But no. Long lines, confused staff, missing items in my order again. When I asked if the owner was around this time, the cashier said, almost word for word, “He’s never really here. That’s kinda why things are like this now.”

That just about says it all.

It’s obvious the current ownership has no real investment in this place beyond collecting what’s left of the profit. The heart of GJ’s is gone. What used to feel like a reliable local gem now just feels hollow and frustrating.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but it’s honestly depressing to see something that once had so much potential fall apart like this. If the owner happens to see this—and actually cares—maybe take a long look at how far this place has slipped under your watch. Because from the outside, it looks like you’ve checked out completely.

GJ’s deserved better. So did your customers
