Stopped by G Cafe Bakery for some pastries and a sandwich. The pastries were amazing, really nice selection. My only regret is I couldn’t try all of them, we’ll be going back to try more. The breakfast sandwiches are very nice if you want something more substantial than a pastry, the were really packed with flavor, and will hold you over for a while. The lattes were also very good. You’ll definitely want to try to go at an off peak time because the line can get pretty long. G Cafe is absolutely worth it.

Hands down, the best cafe in New Haven! Come early in the morning if you want one of their fabulous loaves of bread, as they sell out fast. Ryan and the staff at this location are so friendly. On weekdays, the vibes here are immaculate for getting work done (weekends are busy with brunch). Also a terrific spot for networking as well as for a date. I recommend the yoghurt parfait, the flourless chocolate cake, literally any pastry (but especially the seasonal ones!!), and the bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Great coffee selection too!!!

What a lovely bakery! We were really impressed by their freshly baked bread, and the pastries were great. The Ol’G breakfast sandwich was flavorful and filling, and the avocado toast was very fresh! The staff was pleasant and welcoming, especially Tyler, the manager. They were busy, but they handled it well and got everyone’s food to them in a timely manner. We would definitely visit again!

I really wanted to like G-Cafe since it took over Blue State on Orange. To start, the atmosphere is off. It’s not comfortable sitting in there with the long tables and cramped seating. Then their coffee, they don’t have any light roast options, and it often ends up tasting very burnt. I’ve tried getting cappuccinos and lattes as well, and they are extremely expensive for something that tastes bad (often ends up being 15 dollars for 2 plus leaving a tip). Last, they really have no dairy or egg free pastries. Sometimes they have a pumpkin bread option, but other than that, you’ll have to get expensive avocado toast or oatmeal. I tried finding contact info online to try and email someone about these issues, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to contact anyone. They’re good if you’re just looking for good bread, but not great for drinks or if you have some food allergies.

Today was the first time going to the one on orange street and it definitely will be the last. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I ordered French toast and I informed the guy with the tattoos that I wanted my eggs scrambled hard. When I got my French toast there wasn’t any syrup in the container. Went back to to counter to inform the girl. She came back out with a tiny cup. Then when I got to my office to eat the eggs they gave me was sunny side up. I walked back there and told the guy with the tattoos that I asked for scrambled hard. He took the box with no apology for screwing up the order. Waited 10min just to get scrambled eggs which sat on the back counter for an additional 5min. He finally got my order and gave it to me and again no apology for screwing up my order or even good bye.
