Ukrainian brunch cafe where they have so many dishes I’ve never tried before.
HOLUBSTI $20
– my favorite dish. It’s 3 cabbage rolls filled with beef and rice on top of a tomato sauce served with a side of toasted bread. So delicious and reminded me of grape leaves but with cabbage instead highly recommend
MYLNTSI (crepes) $19
I for the one with chicken and mushrooms sauce and it was pretty tasty. The crepe is filled with ground chicken I think with a creamy mushroom sauce on the outside. I liked this but felt the dish needed more of the sauce since most of the flavor came from the sauce
They also have cherry filled dumplings that I really wanted to try but they ran out so I’ll be back for them next time!m
Thank you for an amazing experience.
The two dishes I got on two occasions were a great blend of flavors, and I recommend both for anyone who’s looking for something warm, cozy, and filling. To me, each was the perfect portion size by itself to feel satisfied without getting too full, but I can see why some would get other side dishes along with them. Also a perfect place to get out your computer/books and study!
Borsht: the beef inside the soup was chunky and umami, and the bread has a rich, caramelized sweet flavor that complements the broth. I would have liked my ham a bit less fatty, but I think some other people’s were less so. The soup portion is pretty decent too, and the sour cream brings another dimension to the flavor.
Beef cabbage rolls: It’s a hearty combo of flavors, with the beef, tomato sauce, softened carrots, cabbage, and other veggies. The bread contains some nuts on its surface, which adds another texture. And love the garnishing flavor on top. I’d say this is a balanced meal that still leaves you satisfied.
Their menu is really diverse, so even if you’d like something completely different for brunch/a meal, I say they’d still satisfy!
Atmosphere: Tasteful, elegant, minimal yet retaining character.
I will be returning and this might be my new “usual to-go-to” Spot – That Good!
