Reviews
From the moment we arrived, the overall cleanliness of the establishment was concerning. The dining area did not appear well maintained, and there was visible dust buildup, dirty air filter grills, and cobwebs around the ceiling fans and trim. Cleanliness is a basic expectation when dining out, and unfortunately, it did not meet the standard.
The service was also disappointing. The staff did not come across as welcoming or attentive, and the overall attitude felt unfriendly and disengaged. Hospitality is a big part of the dining experience, especially for restaurants that represent rich cultural traditions, and that warmth was noticeably missing.
As for the food, the quality did not match the prices. The presentation and flavor were underwhelming, and the more I tried to eat, the less appetite I had. When you visit a Dominican or Puerto Rican restaurant, you expect food made with pride, tradition, and authentic flavor. Sadly, that was not the case here.
Another concern was the handling of beverages. Drinks appeared to be pre-mixed before being served, which raises questions about freshness and, in the state of Virginia, may not comply with proper alcohol service practices.
This visit was meant to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and unfortunately, it turned into a major disappointment. The only positive I can mention is that the artwork and decor inside the restaurant looked great and showed creative effort. However, appearance alone cannot make up for poor food quality, lack of cleanliness, and unsatisfactory service.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment. If you’re looking for authentic Dominican or Puerto Rican cuisine made with care and pride, I would suggest visiting Mofongo Restaurant instead — a place where the food and experience are much more consistent and enjoyable.
I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and work on improving cleanliness, service, food quality, and overall professionalism. A business should reflect pride in what they do, and right now, this establishment falls short.
Been a while (3 years) but we back. Food was better than last time. Best alcapurrias around. Empanadas were delicious. We will definitely be back soon. Definitely worth a visit for some delicious spanish food.
We ordered the prices are a little high, but I will say the freshness is worth it, I had a salad with salmon and it was really fresh meaning no brown salad or soggy salad, the only thing I could even say is they need a salad spinner to fry lettuce a little more, but at least we know they wash it, I’m sure the other places just toss it in a bowl. I really liked the salad and the dressing.
My husband got the Salomon with beans and rice the portions of the salmon are big you are not getting a small piece of fish. Everything was hot and delicious.
We also ordered fries, they were hot and crispy not like those soggy ones at Red Robin.
Service was good we were the only ones there but I feel like it would be good either way. The waitress doesn’t speak English so we were trying to use our little Spanish that we knew. all in all it worked out you just point to what you want and everything worked out.
The place is a little bare but it’s clean and the restrooms are clean we would go back. Plus they are like the only place open after 8:00pm.
I forgot to say they have pretty good pina coladas
