Funky Murphys is a great restaurant in Worcester! Went there for my first time for sit down and it did not disappoint. Very busy since it was fireworks at the local park. Still was able to get outdoor seating. Service was excellent, very friendly, drinks and food were all very hot and yummy!!!! Highly recommend the watermelon grilled chicken salad, lobster sandwich and the upside-down pineapple drink! Live music and atmosphere were all enjoyable. Parking can be challenging so take a look at the back streets. Going to be going to their Sunday brunch which had received excellent reviews.

THEY.SHOULD.HAVE.MORE.THEN.4.STARS! I said it. I love everything from their specials menu, to their regular menu, to the drinks, to the staff, to the sports games on the tvs. If you have been to Worcester and you haven’t been here, you are missing out. I’ll just put my game day food here for now

Funky Murphy’s is one of those Worcester staples that just never disappoints. I’ve been many times over the years for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and everything I’ve tried — from appetizers to dessert — consistently aces the taste and “fills you up properly” test. The portions are generous, the food is juicy and aromatic, and it always arrives at the perfect temperature. I usually leave happily sluggish in the best way.
The staff are warm and welcoming without ever making you feel rushed. They’ll chat when it’s natural, and their timing with food and clearing tables is spot-on. The lighting is bright but cozy, and the hum of conversation in the background feels just right — enough to talk easily, but also peaceful if you just want to settle in.
It smells clean and fresh when you walk in, and the space is always comfortable. Parking is simple with their free lot, and street parking nearby works too. Their social media is great for keeping up with specials (and seeing temptation in all its glory). It’s one of those places that quietly anchors Worcester.

Thursday, day night $20 all you can eat, Steamers. What?!! I was up in the area visiting some family from Richmond, Virginia. I told them that I wanted to get some Steamers, and they proceeded to tell me that we had to come to Funky Murphy’s. They said the $20 deal couldn’t be beat. It’s about a 30-40 min drive up, but it’s well worth it. Service was good. They seemed a little short of staff but worked hard to keep up with our orders. The Steamers were really good. Pretty clean looks like you got maybe about a pound to a pound and a half per order. Sizes did vary. You would get some really nice sweet ones, and then they had some of the biggest Steamers I’ve ever seen as well, but all of them were tasty. They have a nice setup with doors that open to the street. They also have some seating in the back. In a really large bar with about 8 to 12 taps. Would definitely come back here any Thursday for this special.

Food: the food is your typical American style appetizers, which is really good when you’re drunk or high. But it’s like nothing over the top. Otherwise it’s average , okay portions sides.
Service: the service was great. We had two people making sure that we had everything including water and drinks/food. Shout out to the server man that took our pictures as well!
Ambiance: it definitely feels like your typical college bar after a certain time, but it varies on crowds depending on the day. usually after 11 that’s what it gets more like a night out where people are just having a good time and drinking
Which the drinks are pretty inexpensive. I’m a bit biased as this is not my go to place to go out but most of my friends like going there and it’s definitely a place for a younger crowd/for the boys. There are definitely times where the crowd can be a bit too rowdy or the security is not very nice at times, but I personally never had a bad experience.
Location accommodation: they have sidestreet parking as well as a open patio windows to get some fresh air and they have a background in case you don’t really want to be at the front surrounded by too many people.

Funky Murphy’s was one of the only bars open at 11:30 am so we gave it a shot! They had a Monday menu special that was a great value – everything was ten bucks. My gf got the fish and chips, I had the steak tips and fries and we both had clam chowder. The chowder was my favorite – definitely seemed to be homemade which was a safe bet since we were in Massachusetts. I got a cup which was only $5 and the bowl was just a dollar more! The steak was cooked well and on a grill so the flavor was nice and smoky. The fries were delicious and and a big portion. The fish was the only thing that was just ok – I think they would benefit from doing a beer battered fish for a nice crunch rather than what I think was panko which left the fish kinda limp but my gf was happy! We also had a couple local beers which were nice and over all had a great experience. They also have a bunch of huge TVs and a bar lined with their regulars so it’s definitely a neighborhood spot.

If you have a server at a table, the service is decent. If you try to get drinks from the bar, the service, based on the last time I went, is pretty slow. On our last visit we left because the bartender skipped over us and served two newcomers that walked up after us while we were newcomers also waiting for our first drink for over 8 to 10 minutes.. and decided to just leave and go to another spot on Shrewsbury St… The burgers are good.. the drinks are pretty good when you get them, but service is often slow and seemed like favoritism when we were passed over twice to parties that walked up well after we did. The TVs and sound for sporting events viewing is great.. but service has always been hit or miss. Will continue to give them more chances to prove this wrong, as this last time wasn’t nearly as bad as the time before, but having a server and a table definitely gets you better service than trying to get the bartender’s attention when you have to get your drinks from the bar.

My worst experience: the drink was undrinkable, it was so bad. And the waitress didn’t help at all; the bartender came over and treated me even worse.

I’ve had the Prime Rib sliders but Saturday tried the $12.99 Prime Rib dinner. Unbelievable! It was better than some I paid way more for. Cooked perfectly, mash potatoes were smooth and creamy and the asparagus was great. What a deal.

The location is perfect. It’s a 4 minute drive from the palladium. If you get out of a concert late at night and want something to eat, this is the place to be. The kitchen closes at 1am, and the food is reasonably priced. This place does get busy at night, but our waiter was amazing. Our waiter was friendly, and food came out fast.
