Fukanoya is a gentle, homey, and relaxing spot to enjoy sushi and sashimi. We had nami nigiri and chirashi. I would say taste itself is something that is quite expected. Fish are very fresh and do not have any fishy smell or taste to it. I definitely do recommend to visit here if you are in town especially if you want to relax. But it is pretty pricey for the food. Chirashi, I definitely recommend for sure!!!

Excellent high quality sushi. The cuts of fish were so fresh. The miso soup was out of this world, I ordered the salmon paradise and it was quite the meal. My girlfriend ordered the Toro which was the best thing in front of us. I will order the fresh Toro next time I’m here. We had hot and cold sake and they have an excellent selection and a glass of Soju which was very unusual and interesting. The customer service was excellent with very authentic representation sitting at the chef’s bar.

Excellent quality sashimi and sushi. Chef Shige is very professional and pays attention to detail. He takes his time and effort preparing each dish and make sure you’re satisfied with his food. We ordered the omakase set and it has about 8 courses (including soup and dessert) that’s worth every penny.
Truly a gem in South Bay with superb quality that’s comparable, if not better, to some of the top rated sushi restaurants in LA.

This place is the real deal! Real Japanese sushi made by a real Japanese sushi chef. The Omakase is fantastic, and very reasonably priced. The special thing about this shop is the freshness of the fish as well as the professionalism of the owner and the staff. I don’t live nearby, but I drive quite a distance to this place for the standards and quality that they represent.
I am so happy to find they are open again after a 2 1/2 month break, where someone crashed into their store in their car. And my family and I would have been very disappointed, and saddened if this wonderful local gem of a community store had closed.

If You Want a Real Sushi Spot this is the place to go to.

They don’t have a bunch of crazy rolls, and weird low Quality items like other fake “sushi” spots.

Here they have very high quality fish, real sushi rice.

They have some grilled fish dinners, like Black cod, sea bass, salmon, grilled mackerel. But for the most part, it’s All about the Great Quality sashimi, nigiri etc.

They also have Chirashi which is Good, and some other small appetizers, soup, salad, etc.

I HIGHLY recommend this place.

It looks like nothing from the outside, but it’s a real Treat inside. You might not think Lomita would have a good Sushi Spot, but this is definitely one of the best in the whole South Bay.

Great people working there too.

I recommend making reservations if you are going at dinner time.

Parking lot in front.

Totally AHHHMAZING. We had ordered the Omakase and ohhhh baby it was an abundance, from sashimi, nigiri sushi, chawan mushi, clam miso soup, and tempura to dessert. +plus we ordered an extra Engawa. His pieces were thicker than normal his rice was the perfect amount and his aji in the soup and chawan mushi was perfect! I could have downed 6 more oysters too, very delicate but flavorful. We talked to the Owner/Chef and it has been a tough 4 years with the pandemic but his spirits were high. For the price, I would say go and patronize this place as soon as you can. #sushi #itadakimas #birthdaydinner #5starsreview

Nice quiet spot for sashimi and sushi. The portions are good and the bento box combo is a good value with good taste. They don’t rush and it shows in their food in appearance and taste. Their specials change all the time. Staff fully masked.

Very pleased with our overall dining experience. The new owner/chef is very kind and the waitress was very considerate. We came here for my mother’s birthday and ended up ordering two omakase and two chirashi bowls, all of the sashimi was super fresh and everything was beyond expectation. Prices were reasonable for the high quality. This place is BETTER than the old Miura.

I have been trying to eat here, so finally got the chance to try the lunch menu. To go only for now.
Ordered nigiri sushi, although I don’t care much for the spicy tuna roll. The sushi came in a plastic container with miso soup on the side. By the flavor of the miso soup, I know that the sushi would be great and I was right. Everything tasted fresh, one of the best, I would say. Will come back for the omakase.

Sooooo legit sushi! Omg. Got the omakase and every piece was scrumptious. Especially love the lightly smoked black cod and sea bream. The ikura is personally marinated by the chef. Every bite just the right amount of added seasoning. For those that want traditional sushi and sashimi all prepared by chef, come come!
