On the first day, I came with one daughter and her friend; on the second day, I returned with my other daughter. We were served by the same waitress both days. While the service on the first day already felt somewhat inattentive (despite which I still left a 25% tip), the second visit was noticeably worse — particularly after she clearly recognized me. Whatever her assumptions were about my returning twice with different children, it should not have affected the service.
As for the restaurant itself: overall, I liked the atmosphere. Lunch both days was calm and not crowded, making it a quiet and relaxing place to sit. The interior was pleasant, and the food was good for us. It does feel like a very Americanized version of Japanese cuisine, but I am not an expert in Asian food, so I can’t judge that aspect too critically. My daughters enjoyed the experience and were excited to try Japanese food.
Unfortunately, the service significantly detracted from the experience. On the first day, the waitress did not bring small plates for soy sauce, forcing us to share. It was difficult to get her attention to ask for them, and she never checked whether we needed refills on drinks or tea. The bento box had sauce pooled at the bottom, which spilled and stained my daughter’s friend’s clothes and hands, which was upsetting. We also felt rushed, as she asked if we were ready to leave.
On the second day, she cleared my plate while I was still tasting my daughter’s meal. She also didn’t ask if we need utencils. When I asked for more tea or inquired about utencils and dessert options, her demeanor felt visibly irritated. She asked at the end again if we are ready to leave.
Nothing was overtly rude, but the accumulation of small moments created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Nowadays, restaurants — like any service-oriented business — need to understand that providing genuinely pleasant and friendly service is crucial in bringing business back.
Even though I liked the restaurant enough to return the next day and spent about $200 over the two visits, I was left with an unpleasant aftertaste.
With so many excellent Asian restaurants in the area, I’m not sure I would return or recommend this place based on the service alone.

Try the bees knees!
✅ Recommend from what we ordered:
– duck roll
– beef teriyaki
– secret to success maki
do not recommend:
– salmon with wonton chips – lacking any flavor…
The waiters are great and very attentive. Was easy to get reservation on Saturday evening.
