I went with a family member and asked how many pieces of meat came with each plate if we ordered the “carne asada.” The woman assisting us said each portion included two pieces of meat.
After placing our order, we sat down and waited for our food. When it arrived, one plate had only one piece of meat, but it was large, so that was fine. However, the other plate had just one very small piece of meat.
We called the waitress over and mentioned that one of the orders had only one piece of meat. She went to speak to the owner and came back to ask if we wanted a refund instead of fixing the issue by providing what was promised when we placed the order. This response showed a complete lack of accountability. I want to make it clear that this was not the waitress’s fault, but entirely the owner’s.
We asked for a refund (excluding the two drinks we had, which totaled $8 from our $48 bill). They returned $33 in cash instead of the $40 we were owed. When I questioned the owner, she claimed that taxes needed to be deducted and that it would come out of her pocket. Again, she refused to take responsibility. I explained that paying taxes was not my issue (aside from the taxes on the drinks we consumed), and I also mentioned that her behavior was rude. At that point, the waitress defended the owner with an attitude, claiming she wasn’t being rude. However, I disagreed, as the situation was handled poorly and unsatisfactorily. In the end, they did end up returning the correct amount of money, but only because it took effort on my part to make sure that it happened (after a lot of back and forth with the owner).
Additionally, the way the owner spoke to the waitress was, in my opinion, rude. She continually blamed the waitress, to the point that the waitress even offered to pay the difference herself. This showed that, in addition to being rude to customers (like myself), the owner is also disrespectful to her staff in front of customers.
While the restaurant was clean and had enjoyable music, the poor customer service and lack of accountability from the owner and staff ensure that I will not return.
I would not recommend this place to others and suggest exploring other food spots in the area that are likely to provide better customer service. The owner’s unwillingness to take responsibility was extremely disappointing.
They may attempt to dispute this review, but it is a completely accurate account of my experience at this establishment.
