Less crowded than those in Midtown. Food and service are great as always! Will definitely come back! Their chicken waffle and cobb salad are the best! Grilled chicken was super soft and the sauce is amazing.

Friedman’s is a good restaurant just West of Central Park. We stopped here for brunch before catching our flight home. A couple of blocks from the subway this restaurant is a good place to stop. The French toast and lemon pancakes were delicious. The bacon was also good! The service was truly 5 star. Everyone worked together to clear our table of used dishes, serve our food, and take our order. The restaurant was a little pricey, but overall it was a good experience!

Looking for a gluten free restaurant close to Central Park. Look no more. We showed up without reservation and waited ola few minutes at the bar. Jose -the bartender- was super friendly and took care of us in a breeze. Once we got table, Brianna walked us through all the options. She was amazing suggesting not inky the right choices but also the proper meal size based on what we asked. The pancakes were fluffy and very tasteful, the avocado toast was excellent, and the NY Cheesecake was the icing on the cake. Amazing food, great value and awesome service for an all gluten-free meal. Can’t think of anything more to ask for while in Manhattan.

We had such a great experience at Friedmans on 72nd. The food was excellent, but the thing that really stood out was the care around food allergies. Our server made a point to ask every single person at the table about allergies right at the start, and not in a rushed way. You could tell they were genuinely making sure everything would be safe. It’s rare to feel that level of attention when dining out, and it immediately put us at ease.

The food itself was fantastic. We started with the fried green tomatoes topped with sprouts and a flavorful herb sauce, and they were crispy, tangy, and super fresh-tasting. The matzo ball soup was warm and comforting, with a light, fluffy matzo ball and plenty of chicken and vegetables. We also tried one of their cocktails with a candied bacon garnish — fun, smoky, and surprisingly balanced.

For mains, the fish & chips was a standout. The batter was crisp without being greasy, and the fish tasted fresh. Fries were seasoned well and served piping hot. The turkey club sandwich was also really solid — hearty, well-stacked, and full of flavor without being heavy. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared.

The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, perfect for catching up or taking a break from the city. Service was friendly, attentive, and never rushed. And for anyone with dietary restrictions (especially gluten-free), this place is a true find. So many menu items can be made gluten-free, and they do it well — not just as an afterthought.

Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a place where you can enjoy a great meal and actually feel comfortable doing it.

Absolutely fabulous experience. We are snowed in with the blizzard in our fortunate enough to be able to get into this restaurant for dinner. Three of us had salads and all loved it. I had the Friedman club sandwich, which was outstanding. We had an extra order of sweet potato fries also very delicious and the singing is outstanding.

Stumbled on this place while walking by and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did. The space looks great, the vibe is warm, and the service started off strong. The maple bacon old fashioned was outstanding, and the salad was just as good.

The one downside was when someone on staff told us we had to give up our table because it was “reserved,” even though we were barely 45 minutes in. Completely unnecessary and it threw the whole meal off. I brought it up with the manager and he handled it quickly, which I appreciated, but it still should never have happened. A small bill credit would’ve gone a long way.

Once that was sorted out, everything fell back into place and the rest of the experience was solid. Good food, great drinks, and a place I’d definitely return to.

Sara was our server. She was courteous and sweet. The food came out quickly and it was delicious! Love that everything was gluten free. The lemon ricotta pancakes are a must! Will definitely be back.

Stopped by for lunch an August weekend at 12:15pm. The restaurant was relatively full, but still a few tables and bar seats available and I could get a table immediately. That was nice since I was in a hurry.

Ordered the (brunch special) summer chicken salad, which came out within 10 minutes, which again was much appreciated.

To my pleasant surprise, it was so very nice. Fresh and delicious. The peaches and apples, especially the peaches, added a lovely sweet touch, but not overwhelming. I know it’s a chicken salad but chicken played only a supporting role, for the fruits and vegetables (and goat cheese) were the stars.

5 ⭐ all around.

I wish this local NYC chain would open a restaurant in Miami!!!

If you want a delicious Reuben sandwich and do not want to wait in line at Katz’s Delicatessen, then this is your place! We came in on a Saturday around lunch time and luckily we did not have to wait in line! The food, the atmosphere and the service were amazing!

We ordered the Reuben, Matzo ball soup, and the pastrami hash. Everything was delicious! The pastrami was so juicy and tasty that I almost order a second sandwich! The potatoes in the pastrami hash were crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Everything was so delicious. We liked it so much that we ended up going to their other location on West End.

The service was fantastic as well. We accidentally order the broccoli reuben (broccoli instead of pastrami) and our server changed the sandwich for the reuben without hesitation! She was constantly checking on us as well.

If you are in NYC area, please do yourself a favor and go to Friedman’s!

If you’re ready to be gluten-free and feel normal again, this is the place for you. The fried chicken was great, but I really went for the pastrami sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and the pastrami was exactly what you come to New York for!
