Hit or miss. I’ve been there 4 times now for their fish & chips (cod). When it’s good it’s the best I’ve ever had. When it’s bad, it’s … mediocre. I wish they’d be more consistent. The staff is always lovely though.

Be forewarned, it’s in an old auto service garage, which can be absolutely frigid in the winter time. If you have a hankering for fish in January, bring a parka. 🙂

Rockfish tacos are really good. I love the atmosphere, the fact that it is built in an old gas station just adds to it’s charm. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The food came out promptly. You can come and stay a while and drink something from their good beer selection, or be in and out in 20 minutes, fed, happy and satisfied with my service, like me.

I work in the area, have tried it a couple of times and it’s not great. The fish tastes & smells overly fishy and its soaked in grease. Fries are good, but that’s about all. It takes forever to get served, so not a good option for lunch if you only have an hour. The prices are too high for this level of food. C-

The previous one-star review is non-sense! These guys are awesome! Best fish and chips on the island. The serving sizes are very generous and the service is great! You can get full under $9 here!

Came here on Saturday following seafair, figured they’d be busy but I did not figure there would only be a couple people working there and that I’d have to wait 30 minutes for my food. Paying almost $20 for what was referred to as fish and chips was definitely not worth it either, too heavy on the bread, not enough fish, cold French fries.
I initially found the fact that it’s a converted gas station charming, but upon closer inspection the place is quite run down. The overall feel of the place is that it is in decline, for example there’s a ratty blue tarp between the building and the awning of what used to be the gas pumps. For a place that calls itself a “seafood market” I thought the tank would have some crab or something to look at. There was a dead crab that was clearly disintegrating in the tank, and nothing else.
Between the food, the service, and the condition of this restaurant I was extremely surprised that it had over 4 stars on Google reviews. And I can assure anyone reading this that you will AT BEST have a marginally better experience here than you will pulling one of you own toe nails off. The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 is that I tend to gloss over 1 star reviews and want people to actually see this.

Don’t let the look of the building fool you. Looks a bit beat up from the outside, but the food is great. The fish and chips are delicious and also much larger than other restaurants’ pieces of fish. First time in we had to order an additional basket of fries because it was so good.

No one believes me that this place has THE BEST fish and chips that I’ve ever tasted in the world!!! Until I personally drive them to Freshy’s and have them try it. Then, their faces light up and devour the fish as the crispy batter melts in their mouth. Not sure how they invented their unique batter, it’s perfectly crispy and melt in your mouth, it’s hard to explain. Their potato starch fries are just as delicious and very crispy, which match with the fish. You just have to go and order their fish and chips. Also, their fish stew is off the charts! Lots of fish, tomatoes and green pepper that all comes together. I cannot get enough of this place. A MUST GO!

Good food, but were a little slow with a larger crowd.

Good fish, really good fries. Not laboratory clean but it’s a fish market in a former gas station so it’s well within reasonable expectation. They could give you a little more fish for the money, but to be honest it’s a better deal than most other places.

About a three weeks ago, we ordered 2 orders of fish and chips (cod) via the internet order process. When I arrived at the food stand at the indicated time, they had not even started my order. No offer to offset the imposition; you just have to wait. Finally got my order 20 minutes later and took it home. Found out I didn’t get the extra tartar sauce that I had paid for in my order. Otherwise the food was OK.

Tried again last Friday; ordered two orders of fish and chips (cod) with extra tartar sauce. Arrived at the stand at the appointed time to find my order was ready but only had 1 order of fish and chips in the bag. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get the second order. Again, no offer to offset the imposition for them screwing up the order. Asked the wait person to confirm I had extra tartar sauce in the bag when it finally arrived, which she did. Went home and found the first order of fish was practically burnt and the fries were now soggy. The second order was fine — but you guessed it; no extra tartar sauce.

Won’t ever try that again!
