This is one of our new favorite tex-mex restaurants. Everything we have tried is really good. My favorite so far is the chicken chimichanga. Ask for the house made hot sause.

I’m not sure where to start. As a person from Texas, I was excited to try Fresh-Mex. I was a little disappointed. First, if I were you, I would not come here if you are looking for a nice, quiet, stress-free atmosphere. The place is loud and isn’t full-service. Upon entry, you have 3 choices, sitting at the bar and get full service, order at the register and get a number for your table, or find your own table and order from a QR code. I ordered our meals and drinks (tea for me and beer for my wife). The server brought me a clear plastic solo type cup so that I could serve my own drink. The beer arrived about 15 minutes later. The servers were running around like chickens struggling to find the correct tables to drop the food off. Mine was one of those tables. The server brought the wrong food to my table twice. Then the server took my food to other tables before finally bringing it to me. By the time it got to me, my food was no longer hot. The chips were stale and the black beans in my burrito were undercooked and hard. Also, the burrito was stuffed with mostly rice and lite on meat. Some of that barbacoa meat was dry like jerky. And to top it off, you have to go to the silverware counter and get your own silverware, but that wasn’t the worst part. There was no silverware! So I went to the bar counter and stood there for almost 5 minutes being ignored by 4 people behind the bar until someone from the kitchen noticed me and offered help. All he had was plastic ware because the silverware was being cleaned. The sad part is, the place wasn’t even that packed. Aside from the luke-warm burrito, undercooked beans, stale chips; the flavor of the food was good. The queso was very good. The barbacoa was tasty, although it and my wife’s carnitas may be a bit spicy for spice sensitive people. Whoever is cooking these meats should be mindful to sensitive pallets. My wife couldn’t finish her tacos because the meat was too spicy for her. Hopefully this place can smooth out their service and kitchen process. I’d like to try it again in a few months.

Tried Fresh Mex today for lunch and it did not disappoint! We ordered a kids’ chicken tender meal, a chimichanga, and the California burrito. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned. I loved that they have a mini fridge stocked with sauces and sour cream so you can customize your meal. The restaurant itself was clean with plenty of seating, making it a comfortable spot to dine in. Definitely a must-try if you’re looking for a fresh, healthy take on Mexican food. 10/10 recommend!

Great atmosphere and service at Fresh-Mex. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken tacos previously and they were superb (using a breaded chicken). They recently changed the recipe though and the chicken is now a sliced, deli style. Unfortunately, the new recipe is disappointing. Deli style is incredibly dry and flavorless. The manager (I presume) indicated you can do the breaded chicken upon request during slower periods. Overall, great service but the menu change was a big disappointment.

Went to Fresh Mex for lunch after church today and it was incredible! We got the blackened salmon bowls (add pickled onions) and our kids got chicken tenders and two steak tacos. The service was great and the food came out quickly! I’m picky about my salmon but they outdid themselves with it! The cilantro lime sauce was the perfect addition to the bowl! We will def be back!!

Came here to try something new nearby and chose by impulse. Steak burrito was incredible. The flavor and tenderness of
the steak was perfect. Steak should never been tough and chewy and this meat did not disappoint. Overall seasoning was on point. I would give this place the best steak burrito on 210 by far, maybe tied with Anejo. Packed with flavor and good size.

Fresh Mex is always a go-to spot for us in Jax! The ingredients are consistently fresh and flavorful, and everything we’ve tried has been delicious. We’ve had the bowls, salads, and burritos, and each one has been packed with great flavor and quality.

The chips deserve a shout-out too — they’re thin, super crispy, and perfect with salsa or guac. You can really tell they care about using good ingredients and preparing everything well.

If you’re looking for a tasty, reliable spot with great food and fresh options, Fresh Mex is definitely worth it!

We finally tried Fresh-Mex & Co. today and overall we liked the food. We tried the mahi life bowl and the chimichanga with chicken. Both portions sizes were very large, and the ingredients were very fresh. We also tried the chips and Guac which was also very good. The chips were thin and crispy, which was great, I do wish they were warm though. They had two sauces available: cilantro lime and chipotle mayo, both were good but we preferred the chipotle mayo.

Overall we liked it, 2 entrees, 2 drinks and an appetizer was $60 (tip included) for lunch, so it’s a bit more expensive than some other Mexican spots in the area, but the food is fresh and the portion size is pretty good.

Definitely worth trying.

Good made-in-house mexican food. Their queso is made from real cheese, not the canola oil based stuff you see in other restaurants. My favorite menu item is the California burrito with Chicken and extra queso on the side. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. Great place to get dinner as a family!
