First time having a grouper sandwich and it was amazing. The fish was so tender and tasty, and the fillet was huge. All the other dishes came in large portions and were delicious as well. They also offer a bunch of house-made hot sauces, which were quite good too (I especially liked the mango habanero). Our waitress was great, patiently waiting to take our orders while a family member was hunting for parking.

We had previously tried the Rockaway grill location and really liked it so thought we would try this location. It’s a lot smaller and definitely more bar vibe but service and atmosphere still really good.
We did the scallops platter and the Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. The scallops were cooked perfectly and with the rice and green beans was a great meal overall all. The mac and cheese felt small at first but with the bread ended up being plenty. All though it was good I wouldn’t order that again. For me the cheese and buffalo sauce didn’t go together but overall still glad I tired it.

Was a bit disappointed with my visit. This was a surprise based on other reviews. Generally the food was good, but not very good or great by any means. The visit was also dampened by the existence of small flies everywhere. I’m assuming this is a rare occurrence and we were just unlucky that day. Now the detailed review:
This Frenchy’s location is small with primarily outdoor seating. We liked the outdoor seating (if not for the flies and some seagulls attacking other patrons). The server was considerate and friendly. The drinks were very good and hit the spot.
We ordered the Famous Grouper Sandwich and a Lobster Roll. The Grouper was ok with good flavor but soft and a bit mushy. The cheese and roll it was served on was good though. Kettle chips were also very good.
The Lobster Roll was much better. Tender and flavorful lobster with seasoning that was not overpowering. Served on Texas toast.
Wasn’t a big fan of the coleslaw either which was a bit bland and watery.
Maybe their other locations would be a better choice.

We had not been to Clearwater in 16 years, and back then we ate at the original Frenchy’s, which was fantastic. This time, we tried Frenchy’s South Beach Café since it was closer to our hotel. Unfortunately, the experience was just OK.
The restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away, which was great. However, service took a very, very long time. We eventually had to get up and find someone, and our server came over and said he did not realize he had our table. We placed our full order at once since took so long, including appetizers and entrées, but everything came out at the same time. Someone else delivered the food, and we still did not have napkins, plates, or silverware. We had to get up and find those ourselves because our server never came back. Also we had to get up during our meal to ask for drink refills.
We ordered the world-famous grouper sandwich, which was just OK. We spend a lot of time in Destin, Florida, and there are much better grouper sandwiches there. The conch fritters were pretty good, and the tuna spread was fantastic. Honestly, the tuna spread is what saved the entire experience for us. Again, service was awful!
Next time we are back in Clearwater, we will likely try something different instead of returning here, very disappointing.

2/12/26 – 1st time trying Frenchy’s and it was fantastic. The fried gator bites were hot and delicious, for my main course my wife had the lobster tacos and I had the grouper bites platter and everything was hot, delicious and seasoned pretty well. The atmosphere was great and our waiter (Matias) was very friendly and efficient with service! Thanks for a great meal…highly recommended

This is really cool place. I’d like to know what to do in Tampa on my first visit and it’s go to French so I did the best part was the grouper sandwich that was a really good sandwich.
They were so freaking busy on Wednesday afternoon as well. The service was that great was really nice. No Complaints whatsoever just rolled with the flow. Beer selection is fair.

The vibe was great as the sun set. Jules took great care of me as a single diner. Answered my questions and encouraged me to try but didn’t push. I had the famous crab fries. They were amazing. Then tried the almond encrusted grouper salad. It was all very good. And they even suggested I just chill for a while since there was no rush for tables and just enjoy the night. Great place and service.

Frenchy’s was a fantastic vibe! Right by the beach, good view of the palm trees, kind of away from the beach crowd, it was a good spot. Good among other places nearby was very top rated! The crab with the butter was awesome! Good selections for kids of all ages! I tried their own lager and was pretty good for a summer lunch! All in all I highly recommend this spot!

We love Frenchy’s and always eat multiple meals there while we visit. The Grouper sandwich is amazing and I love mine with Buffalo Sauce. I did need to ask for an extra side. We also enjoy the Fish Dip and we tried the new pretzel which was nice.

The food and prices were really good. Best She-Crab soup I ever had. They had pretzels shaped like a fish for an appetizer and the crab fries were something different, but good. This location is right on the Beach and they have a place next door called Frenchy’s Cooler, where you can get all kinds of ice cream, shaved ice and milkshakes. Very good.
