This place is not as obvious jumping out at you as a lot of the other lobster roll places in town, but definitely do not overlook them tucked away in that corner. The menu has all the essentials and is very appealing; prices vary by day. I just had a 4 oz. hot roll. This was the freshest lobster I’ve ever tasted (disclaimer: 1st time visiting Maine), and had huge chunks of lobster meat. The roll itself was tasty, too, so it added to the experience. This was hands down the best lobster roll I had in Maine (including McLoons) or anywhere on the east coast!

Holy lobster mac & cheese! I know that most people come here to get the lobster rolls, but after splurging and having a lobster roll pretty much every day while I was in Maine, I wanted to switch things up.
So for a late lunch, I decided to try the decadent lobster and white cheddar mac & cheese. This was the epitome of comfort food and luxury decadence. I appreciated that it was white cheddar mac & cheese and none of that artificial orange stuff.
They piled the piping hot fresh lobster meat on top and I took my dish across the street and enjoyed it in the park.
So if you are craving lobster, but want to switch it up from the traditional lobster roll, I cannot recommend the lobster mac & cheese enough.
This is a take away spot, so there is no in-house dining, but the service was extremely fast and friendly.

It’s takeout. We got the 6 oz buttery lobster roll X 2. They were huge. We went back to our place and split one in half and oohed and aahed about how good it was with just warm butter. We ate the second one after getting a nice colorful sunset over the bay we were at. Eyup!!! Downeast at it’s finest!

Adorable hole in the wall lobster shop. VERY reasonably priced, especially compared to other restaurants right down the street. Also reasonable portion sizes for the cost. They put a ton of lobster on the lobster roll. We got the lobster bisque, clam chowder, classic lobster roll, and GF crab roll (no upcharge for GF bun!!)…all were AMAZING! We will definitely be back if we are ever in this area. 10/10 recommend!

Had the 4 oz Hot Buttered Lobster Roll. The lobster is steamed (I asked) which is the best way to cook lobster. The hot dog roll was nicely toasted. Tasted great. Comes with a 1 oz bag of chips.

My favorite meal I had in Bar Harbor was definitely at Frenchman Bay. The lobster rolls were SO good and totally worth the money. They even have blankets by the door you can grab and take to the park by the water—it made the whole experience even better. Don’t skip this one!!

Anyone giving this place less than a 5 star rating doesn’t know what an amazing lobster roll is, or worse, ordered something else! I was skeptical if they would be the exact same lobster rolls that The Travelin’ Lobster makes about 15 min outside of town, but they are! The exact same lobster rolls! Having tried about 20 different lobster rolls in Maine, you CANNOT beat this place!

I’ll be honest. Maybe I only gave 4 stars because I went for the cold option (I can’t have a lot of butter). I honestly don’t think it had much flavor… the lobster was cooked perfectly and there was a great sized portion. Just the flavor didn’t hit the mark for me at all.

Best lobster roll in bar harbor without a doubt. I would even say this was the best lobster roll I’ve had in my entire life. The lobster was perfectly buttery and warm. I got the small sized roll (they also have mini and large) which felt perfect. Despite being called small, it was still a completely generous serving of lobster and quite filling. My girlfriend and I stopped in twice for lobster rolls in the 3.5 days we spent here. The staff were also wonderful both times! Will definitely be back the next time we come to bar harbor.
