Dining at Frenchie is an experience that feels both intimate and meticulously orchestrated. Sitting at the bar, just a few feet from the open kitchen, allows you to witness every detail — the quiet focus of the chefs, the delicate plating, the rhythm of a team that works like a living organism. It’s not just dinner; it’s a dialogue between craftsmanship and emotion.
Chef Greg Marchand’s cuisine celebrates the terroir of France with cosmopolitan flair — a balance between memory and innovation. Each plate is constructed with purpose: layers of flavor that reveal the integrity of ingredients and the precision of technique. The dishes arrive like small compositions — elegant yet alive.
What makes the experience special is the human side. The team is gracious, attentive, and flexible — they kindly offered to replace my dessert when I mentioned I don’t eat chocolate. The alternative, a fruit-based creation with subtle floral notes, was extraordinary and proved the kitchen’s creativity and generosity.
Every detail, from the ceramics by Marion Graux to the Ten Belles bread and bean-to-bar chocolate by PLAQ, reflects Frenchie’s dedication to sustainability and artisanship.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that so seamlessly merges refinement with authenticity. Frenchie is one of those rare Parisian places where fine dining feels human, not performative — genuine artistry served with warmth.
Huge kudos to the staff who were also so friendly! We got the kitchen counter seats which gave us a front row seat to plating which was really fun and entertaining. Chef Greg also came around often to check in on us which we really appreciated.
All in all a must-try when in Paris.
It is a five course set menu and we opted for the wine pairing (70€).
Starting with the food – I have to be honest and say that the first four courses were reminiscent of acceptable British airways first/business class dining. Looks great on paper but the flavour wasn’t there and unfortunately I can’t blame any altitude or a dulled palate. The first course was a cold scallop dish that was rather boring with limited flavour – ours seemed boiled vs the nice sear I can see in other posted reviews. The second course was sun-choke ravioli that was fairly unexciting and didn’t have an excess of flavour depth either. The third course was a monkfish that was exceedingly salty and two of us found we weren’t able to finish as a result. The fourth course was chicken that was ok, but again way too salty and the stuffing(?) accompaniment was frankly inedible in our opinion and we all left it. The dessert was fantastic and really saved the meal for us (to some extent). It was chocolate and pear in a few preparation and hats off to the pastry chef as it was truly delicious.
In summary, we found the savoury courses boring and overly salty to the point we struggled to recall the earlier courses by the time we were on the dessert.
The wine pairing was alright – nothing to complain about but the pours were stingy and again it was nothing memorable.
The service was again – just ok, not overly personable by any means and not helped by the rather bland atmosphere and overly lit bare room.
For a restaurant with what looked like a 1:1 staff to patron ratio we expected far far better.
The bathroom sink was also not working which doesn’t feel ideal or completely sanitary.
I was disappointed in myself for picking this as a birthday dinner but we had heard good things from multiple sources.
I know their menu changes seasonally so perhaps this iteration just falls flat but I can’t imagine it won them their Michelin star.
Whilst I won’t be returning after spending over €900 for four people on a mediocre meal, I hope they can improve what they are offering.
We had many better and more memorable meals during our time in Paris, all within the €400-€600 range.
