Social Profile:

Since 1994, French Living has been weaving a little piece of France into the heart of Nottingham. Our family-owned restaurant offers more than just food: it is a place where authentic flavours, genuine hospitality, and French culture come together. Our homemade French cuisine, with its Corsican influence, celebrates tradition and seasonality with hearty dishes paired with carefully chosen wines. Two price-range menus make it easy for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re slipping in for a quick lunch, sharing a romantic dinner, gathering with family, or enjoying a pre-theatre meal.

Compact French restaurant serving rustic Gallic cuisine with an attached creperie and cheese shop.

Delicious Top Quality Food – My favourite restaurant in Nottingham

French living is the best place to go if you want quality dishes that taste absolutely divine!

I have come to French living many times before and I have always received the best service. Any type of events, birthdays, valentines days or just because I want great food! I have never been disappointed here.

The food is always the best quality, the meat is juicy and fresh, the bread (very important part!) is always delicious, the wine never fails to take me back to France and the desserts are to die for, especially the Café gourmand – it is always a pleasure to eat here!

The restaurant itself is very cosy and beautifully styled, I always feel at home eating here.

Thank you French Living for your amazing restaurant and your hard work! You never fail to amaze me with your dishes!

Merci – Meena ❤️

Our new favourite restaurant, a proper one – the kind you are proud to take your parents to. Inside feels like you’re transported to a family restaurant on the continent, with a cosy atmosphere and tasteful decoration. Excellent French language service, which gives it the fullest authenticity. It was all delicious and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend my set menu of terrine, saucisse and fromage! Accompanied by my first Pietra, a Corsican beer, finished with a glass of Calvados. Very reasonably priced, so there’s no excuse not to make this your next evening out – either a date night or dinner with friends.

Had the pleasure of eating at French living to celebrate my partner’s birthday.

It was a romantic but fun evening with great service from the staff and some of the best food I have had in a while. As a French national I can confirm that the food is to the quality expected back home.

Don’t believe me ? I’ve photographed the dishes as all good milenials should

For a memorable one on one in Nottingham this is a must! Bonne ap!

Myself and my partner visited for the first time Saturday lunch. Well we have to say we have found our new favourite restaurant. We loved everything about our experience, the food, the wine, the atmosphere and it was like we’d been transported to a genuine French family restaurant. Thank you so much.See you in March for my birthday.

This is our favourite restaurant over the border into Nottingham. The bistro atmosphere makes the dining very authentic and the food and wine choices are perfect.
Our latest visit was actually on Valentines day. We don’t do eating out on Valentines day but we were in Nottingham for an event so booked a lunchtime slot which was the normal menu which is always excellent.
We both really enjoyed the meal (I actually managed to order another starter other than snails) and had 3 courses accompanied by a carafe of red Langedoc to share and a digestiv brandy to finish the meal off.
Excellent as always and we will be back yet again next time we are in Nottingham

Was in the mood for good French food in Nottingham and this looked well rated so decided to pop in to French Living.

Very French vibe inside. They leave you to it until you need their assistance… the French way! I went for the set menu du jour (all on the blackboard) for £25 for 2 courses… well priced.

Started with terrine with some proper freshly sliced baguette… huge portion and I needed more bread!

The star of the show though was the steak frites… a MUST if you go. Easily one of the best I’ve had outside of France. So many small details made it excellent. The perfectly cooked fries, rich peppercorn sauce, fresh ratatouille, other very well seasoned veggies as well. Perfectly cooked steak that was juicy throughout… not a chewy bit in sight. The sort of meal you don’t want to finish as then it ends!

Didn’t want a dessert but I was tempted by the creme brûlée… it wasn’t cheap but the thickness and richness of the cream made it very indulgent. Top 5 that I’ve had for sure. All washed down with a carafe of house white.

Indulgent but an incredible meal – proper French food in the heart of Nottingham. Allez!

Great French Bistrot cooking, steak frites followed by a pear tart Tatin and house red: Languedoc – really really tasty well cooked and generous portions. We had a great time, lovely staff. looking forward to returning when we visit Nottingham again. Remember essential to book if there is something on at the Theatre.

We were made to feel very welcome from arrival until we left. Cosy atmosphere. The staff were great and menu and food authentic and tasty. Wine choice was good and house wine very good. Speed of service was perfect for a pre theatre visit. No hesitation in recommending. We will return. Thank you!

As always we had a great lunch pre theatre. Being in the restaurant transports us to annual visits to this great country. Service took a little longer on this occasion for the first course but they soon caught up enabling us to get to the theatre. Unfortunately we weren’t able to order dessert, but there’s always next time! The venison was superb & my partner also enjoyed his fish cassoulet.
Looking forward to our next visit using a voucher we had for Christmas.
