Since 1994, French Living has been weaving a little piece of France into the heart of Nottingham. Our family-owned restaurant offers more than just food: it is a place where authentic flavours, genuine hospitality, and French culture come together. Our homemade French cuisine, with its Corsican influence, celebrates tradition and seasonality with hearty dishes paired with carefully chosen wines. Two price-range menus make it easy for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re slipping in for a quick lunch, sharing a romantic dinner, gathering with family, or enjoying a pre-theatre meal.

French living is the best place to go if you want quality dishes that taste absolutely divine!
I have come to French living many times before and I have always received the best service. Any type of events, birthdays, valentines days or just because I want great food! I have never been disappointed here.
The food is always the best quality, the meat is juicy and fresh, the bread (very important part!) is always delicious, the wine never fails to take me back to France and the desserts are to die for, especially the Café gourmand – it is always a pleasure to eat here!
The restaurant itself is very cosy and beautifully styled, I always feel at home eating here.
Thank you French Living for your amazing restaurant and your hard work! You never fail to amaze me with your dishes!
Merci – Meena ❤️
It was a romantic but fun evening with great service from the staff and some of the best food I have had in a while. As a French national I can confirm that the food is to the quality expected back home.
Don’t believe me ? I’ve photographed the dishes as all good milenials should
For a memorable one on one in Nottingham this is a must! Bonne ap!
Our latest visit was actually on Valentines day. We don’t do eating out on Valentines day but we were in Nottingham for an event so booked a lunchtime slot which was the normal menu which is always excellent.
We both really enjoyed the meal (I actually managed to order another starter other than snails) and had 3 courses accompanied by a carafe of red Langedoc to share and a digestiv brandy to finish the meal off.
Excellent as always and we will be back yet again next time we are in Nottingham
Very French vibe inside. They leave you to it until you need their assistance… the French way! I went for the set menu du jour (all on the blackboard) for £25 for 2 courses… well priced.
Started with terrine with some proper freshly sliced baguette… huge portion and I needed more bread!
The star of the show though was the steak frites… a MUST if you go. Easily one of the best I’ve had outside of France. So many small details made it excellent. The perfectly cooked fries, rich peppercorn sauce, fresh ratatouille, other very well seasoned veggies as well. Perfectly cooked steak that was juicy throughout… not a chewy bit in sight. The sort of meal you don’t want to finish as then it ends!
Didn’t want a dessert but I was tempted by the creme brûlée… it wasn’t cheap but the thickness and richness of the cream made it very indulgent. Top 5 that I’ve had for sure. All washed down with a carafe of house white.
Indulgent but an incredible meal – proper French food in the heart of Nottingham. Allez!
Looking forward to our next visit using a voucher we had for Christmas.
