Came here for my birthday and wow… I was not disappointed! My husband and I usually feel like we can cook better at home than what we get when eating out, but this place blew us away. Every bite was amazing and the dessert? Absolute chef’s kiss. Can’t wait to come back!
Also, my waitress was Nicole I believe that’s her name and she was phenomenal and knew exactly what to recommend to us based on what we like.

Great service and good food in a nice location downtown. I don’t order an entree as I wanted to try a few of the other items on the menu instead. I opted for the mushroom soup and wedge salad as well as something the bar. The drinks were great. Well prepared and tasty. The soup was very good, especially with the French bread. My wedge salad was also good but I opted for the ranch dressing as I’m not a fan of blue cheese.
I only knock the food on the lack of vegan and gluten free options for my wife. She ended up with a simple salad as there really were no other options on the menu.
The others in our large party enjoyed their meals as well.
EDIT: been back several times for lunch as I really enjoy those offerings. They are prepared well and the environment is a nice change from the pace of many places at lunch time. Again, the staff is top can’t be beat.

First time here and it did not disappoint! We were greeted nicely and sat promptly right at our reservation time. My wife and I both had the French 75 which was good, shared the fried shrimp appetizer which is off menu and very tasty. For our main course we both had the mixed grill, it was quite good and a good choice to try a few items. The recommendation for wine pairing was delightful and the dessert was absolutely delicious. If you go here you have to get the bread pudding. Our ticket was over $300 after tip but it was worth it, the waiter was very friendly and we would definitely go back again!

It was a very special occasion and we did what we have never done before – drive four hours to Tulsa to try out the French Hen for dinner. The drive to Tulsa is always a delight in any season for those not familiar with this part of the country. Smooth roads, easy traffic and the friendly OK drivers make it a breeze. There is something to be said for having the temperament to not run amock on the roads causing chaos. While we were early, finding parking in downtown Tulsa turned out to be quite a challenge. So our advice – get a shared ride or do your research on how to pay for the public lots around the area. What we liked the most was when we called the restaurant to say we are on the road and we could not predict our arrival time exactly, they did not flinch, and instead said, we will take care of you when you get here. Now that gets high marks in my book for customer service. At the French hen we were happy to find ourselves in a location that was exciting yet not too noisy. Service was prompt. The Calamari for appetizers was just perfect. For the main course we tried out the Bouillabaisse. We had been intrigued by this dish ever since we watched “Whitstable Pearl” (now there’s a nice British detective mystery series for you) and one of the characters tries to make this with an Irish twist. Seared Diver Scallops with pasta was a fantastic choice. It was every bit as delightful as our imagination foretold. The Prime Rib Eye Steak was good but it could have been great. Perhaps the sheer size of the meat was not suited to our sensitive palates. For dessert the Berry Crème Brûlée rocked. All in all a delightful place, good fare, excellent service and ambience and the location cannot be beat.

I really want to rate this place higher, esp since this was our 2nd time there… the 1st time being much better. This time around, not so much.
Pluses: Good creative drinks – albeit pricey and perhaps a tad too sweet. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly.
Misses: Service, flavor, and Same-o Same-o. We arrived early for our reservation with hardly anyone there but got seated in the middle of the room instead of by a window and away from traffic. We requested to be moved but was told “no” from the waitress and maitre d – only to be told “yes” a few minutes later. They brought a small table from the outside and placed it by the window… we appreciated the gesture but was annoyed by their initial response and approach. More importantly though – food this time around was just okay. Flavor was lacking overall, with everything almost tasting the same – and also not that much different from when we were here almost a year ago. Same menu for the most part even.
Will likely not be back – expecting a lot more, esp for the price we paid… plenty other options locally.

My husband and I just went here for the first time tonight. We would hands-down give this restaurant the highest score possible, a five 5️⃣ . The food was absolutely divine and our waitress, Sarah, was marvelous!. First, we were served an amuse bouche which was a truffle egg-salad bite and it was delightfully good. Then we ordered an appetizer which was a mushroom tart and my husband loved it. He said he would give it a five 5️⃣. Next, we ordered a soup and salad and the soup was divine. It was a red leak and potato soup and words can’t describe how delightful yummy it was. I’m so glad we got it. Then we got our main courses and we would also rate them a five 5️⃣, they were wonderful. Then my husband ordered the Osso Buco and he thought it was absolutely delicious. The veal shank was so tender that it was falling off the bone and he said it was incredibly rich and beefy. I had the halibut in a cream sauce with crab. The fish was cooked to perfection and it was absolutely divine. I cannot tell you how good it was and I would clearly give it a five. 5️⃣.
Our waitress’s name was Sarah and she was incredibly nice. Not only was she very attentive, but she took the time to explain the various dishes to us while being very personable as well.
Not only do I recommend this restaurant, but would come again. We live approximately 2 1/2 hours from this restaurant and we would travel again to come back to it. It was definitely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in quite some time.

I had a steak with a few drinks. The steak was cooked well and honestly was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a LONG time. My waiter ((Johan) forgive my spelling of his name). was very friendly and attentive but, not so much that it was annoying. The bartender was just as friendly and attentive. Also, he makes GOOD bloody marry! All bartenders know how to make the drink but, in my experience few can make it well and this bartender knows what he’s doing. Overall, I highly recommend both the restaurant and bar!
I will say the parking could be better. Parking is limited due to location. I had to park a couple of blocks from the French Hen but, it was worth the little bit of walking.

This was our first time at French Hen and we absolutely loved it! You guys have to check this place out if you are looking for a nice, quiet, fancy restaurant that won’t break the bank. Also, the atmosphere and decor are very elegant and tasteful. Great date night! Also, there is even a separate room that can be closed off from the rest of the restaurant if you are looking for privacy or having a business dinner.

Heard mixed reviews about The French Hen, but our experience was fantastic. We really enjoyed the drinks, food, atmosphere, and our server was on point! We ordered escargot, mango/Blackberry goat cheese salad, sweetbreads, and grilled duck. The sweetbreads were soooo good and pillowy tender, escargot cooked perfectly, duck was juicy and tender. We really liked this place and would go back!
